This time last year we were getting snow; yesterday it hit 60*. Did not stop raining all day; actually it's still going. Bored!! I'm so bored. Tuesday was gorgeous so I got on my bike for the first time in awhile; I was going to do so much. Instead I fell over at 1mph and sprained left side ankle and wrist. I'm left handed, so no crocheting for me!

Do you know how much I earnestly love you? All? Hang in there. It'll be beautiful soon. It's not beautiful for bicycle riding now, but it's still beautiful for other things. Take a walk in the rain and see the forest. Be grateful you don't live in a desert. Be grateful you can have a terrific meal for two for less than $60.

Squeezed in 25 mi this afternoon--oddly warm and super windy. Mucho rain just to the north of us, very windy here. Next two days will be interesting, in that interesting = sucks to be you. Stay dry, friends.
Time change next, spring follows.

Very confusing weather here on the coast; typical spring, i.e. sunny and windy, though warmer than spring. But it's February. Are we supposed to get an early spring??
It rained all day yesterday, no stopping, and yet NWS says we got just over 1/2 an inch. I call shenanigans unless the middle of the bay gets vastly different weather from the north of the bay.

It occurred to me that Daylight Savings Time must be starting soon, and sure enough, I looked and it's only 3 weeks away. I'm looking forward to riding after work again. I only hope it dries out a bit by then.

Storm totals at the house were impressive.
Sat 0.53"
Sun 1.11"
Mon 0.46"
Tue 0.23"
When it's not already saturated, rain disappears fast but once it's soggy, it has nowhere to go (being flat as a flat thing in the valley). Glug.

Lake Berryessa is just 3 feet below the glory hole and climbing.

On another group they were saying it’ll only take a few more inches to get there.

Cool!
Wasn't it just a few years back the village of Monticello was emerging from the disappearing depths of Berryessa? This is better!

Anybody else weirded out by the gorgeous weather? I mean, I love it, but I keep waiting for the shoe to drop and get some surprise hard freezes.

A powerful winter storm system is expected to hammer California later this week, bringing 5 to 10 feet of new snow between Thursday and Sunday to the Sierra Nevada, white-out conditions and the potential for extended highway closures.“If people are not already up here by Thursday morning, do not come,” said Andrew Schwartz, lead scientist at the UC Central Sierra Snow Lab at Donner Summit near Lake Tahoe. “It’s a shelter-in-place situation. People up here are buying fuel today for backup generators and boarding up their windows. It’s like watching people prepare for a hurricane.”
On Tuesday, the National Weather Service issued a blizzard warning — its first of the year — for the Northern and Central Sierra Nevada. The warning extends from 4 a.m. Thursday to 10 a.m. Sunday from Lassen and Shasta counties through Lake Tahoe to Tuolumne and Mono counties near Yosemite National Park.
Snow will begin falling Thursday, and become most extreme on Friday at amounts of 2 to 4 inches an hour, posing “near to impossible” conditions for drivers, winds up to 65 mph and power outages, the National Weather Service warned, with extended road closures possible on Interstate 80 and Highway 50, the main two routes that Bay Area residents use to go to Lake Tahoe area ski resorts.

We've had our butts kicked by the rain god a few times today already. But as to places not to be: I-80 @ Soda Springs.

After a bunkered weekend the new snowpack totals are in: 104% of average for the date and 94% of the April 1 max average. On Jan 1 we had a scant 28% average for date, so at least that's fixed.

took the car's winter tires off
never put the bike's winter tires on
next year the weather pattern may flip?
