WNYC got me: Manual bicycle ban in New York
Oh my goodness guys I almost just had an anuerysm listening to the Brian Lehrer show; he said they were imposing a ban on manual bikes and only e-bikes would be allowed because of public safety, health, etc.
I was so mad for about 3 minutes and then I remembered what today is and now I'm cracking up. Anyway I just had to unpack that real quick; can you imagine if that were real?

Bikes: too many bikes from 1967 10s (5x2)Frejus to a Sumitomo Ti/Chorus aluminum 10s (10x2), plus one non-susp mtn bike I use as my commuter

The problem in the USA today is that April Fools pranks are now too credible.

IKR. One that got me many years ago was in Adventure Cycling’s magazine. There was a short review of a book detailing the history of the spoke nipple allegedly written by a Swede. The review was written very convincingly, and I could imagine some bike dork writing a book like that. It wasn’t until I read another absurd blurb on the same page that I realized what was going on. I emailed the organization to tell it “Good one!”. Someone wrote back to tell me lots of members had written to admit they had fallen for it.
