Fizik Arione R1 weight is off
I just bought an used Arione R1 off Facebook marketplace. Everything looks fine, it came with its box and papers, but it's weight is off, it is 179g but it should be 163. Is it normal?
Ps: my scale is correct since I weighed my iPhone and it was correct.

Really? Rarely, at least in the bike world, will anyone find items of any kind that exactly match the stated/listed weight. 16 grams is minuscule, not noticeable on a bike. It could even be your scale is off.

After around 50k miles on my near-identical Arione, I chafed off a good ounce from it.
Give it time...you'll get there.

There was a time when bike weight could be trimmed with a drill and a hacksaw.
Fortunately time has passed and there is a more significant weight issue to address that presents itself on the kitchen table.

Really?? Common fact that molds and dies wear, pre molded material mix varies the density somewhat with each batch, woven fibers vary some as well as their woven "tightness". It's called manufacturing tolerance. At one time rim and tire companies would say that actual weights could vary by 10% from listed ones.
If having to have the listed (likely an average over a production run) weight is a high priority, I suggest buying a number of these seats, weigh them and return the ones you won't accept. Andy (I sure hope this was a trolling post because if not the OP showed a faith in the promotional listings that isn't likely to hold water)

Could be a build-up of chamois cream and other body waste from previous owner. Not something I want to think about. This miniscule difference in claimed weight is really nothing and nothing to be concerned about. Pretty common from tires/tubes to frames and various other parts. A (superlightweight) 12lb bike is 5443 grams, does 16g really make a difference?

Who knows? Still not a mechanical problem, except fine tuning expectations to reality. IMO saddles are about comfort, not precise weight specs.

It is amazing the things that people get upset over even if minorly. You said there were 85 peanuts in this jar and I only counted 79...LOL
It is a manufactured thing it will vary in weight everything in the world will very in weight unless each item is being weighed out to be 1 pound or whatever it will have variances I cannot imagine something not having variances I could say if it was waaaaaaaay off like to the point of ridiculousness like it was a pound heavier.

It also comes in two sizes and from the Fizik website:
Regular size:
- Weight: 163 gr
- Dimensions: 300x126 mm
Large size:
- Weight: 181 gr
- Dimensions: 300x140 mm
Could it be yours being a Large one?

Doing a simple Google Search for it you get it to be 175gr which is quite close to yours.

It is a slight problem...really only a problem if you don't buy from authorized dealers and continue feeding the fake and knockoff markets. Obviously not talking used here but first purchase stuff. For used you want to be careful but minor weight variation is not really anything especially considering we have a sample size of one.

For the metric impaired (like me), 16 grams is 0.564383 ounces.
