Garmin Edge 530 Water Tightness
I don't think Garmin advertises this, but I just took my Edge 530 out of the washing machine. I probably should have ran it through the dryer before powering it on, but I didn't want it to shrink.

Make sure that usb connection is dry before using the charger. Might be more of a issue for data if for some odd reason you are old school moving data to and from that Edge 530.
I use to put a plastic sandwich bag over mine when it rained. I knew I was probably being overly cautious and I gave up on that several years ago. Still I have wondered if I should. Glad you have given me confidence to not worry about my Edge 530 in the rain.

Probably added miles, washing machines do cycle.
In all seriousness, the Garmin 530 was a massive improvement over the 520, in regards to water resistance. My 520 used to read very low on elevation gain, during wet rides. The 530 doesn't have this issue(both read elevation off of air pressure.) So that's what I'd be worried about after a rinse cycle.

Wonder what IP water resistance a washing machine corresponds to?

My ride this morning was a short trip through the neighborhood, but the elevations recorded looked to be what I typically see.

How do you wash your Garmin? Do you use cold rinse gentle cycle or heavy duty? Should I pre-rinse? Do I need to soak it first or will it do ok going straight in the washer?
It is great news that it handled the wash. It is a testament to the quality of the product.

I add fabric softener.
My 1030 has been rock solid but I have to lock the screen in the rain or it goes crazy. It will change data fields on its own.

When I was trying to choose between the 530 and 840, this was what helped me make my decision. My Apple Watch gets wonkie in the shower and my Garmin Vivoactive watch would get stupid when it was sweaty.
