Same here. My last 26” mtb was a 2004 Ventana, which I rode up until 2015. Like the Turner, it was an iconic bike of the time, but my current 29” Canyon is much better in every regard, especially geometry.

26 ain't dead. I can't afford these new bikes that are priced more than used cars. All my mtb's are still 26!

Purchased some spare 26 inch rims for my 26inch rimmed MTBs

great bike collectionI have riden 27.5 and 29 MTBs but I haven't found the nervosity and the sensations I have on my 26 inch rimmed MTBs ​​​​​​. Last time on my local trail I was faster than ​anyone with 29 inch or 27inch rimmed MTBs also I don't do disk brakes. I also ride large frames from 19 to 21 inches. I am thinking about adding a Specialized Stump Jumper frame in a big size since the Trek 8000 in ZR9000 isn't available in large sizes and the SLR 6500 and 6700, I already have two big sized bikes but I don't have anymore room or again another MTB .

The two next and last MTB projects that will be finalized will be a Trek Fuel 100 in ZR9000 and a Garry Fisher Hookoo Ekoo. I will buy spare parts such as saddles, shifters ,tires and chains.Redid the math of how I will park my bikes in my garage,I don't have anymore space for a single additional bike.

I’m pretty new to 26” MTBs/ATBs but I’m having a blast with them and wish I’d paid more attention to them sooner. As I’m sure they were intended, they make you feel like you could ride anywhere in any conditions—well, except into a headwind.

I’ve posted these over on the C&V forum, too. I recently bought another Trek 6500 frame, this one a 2006 that’s a size larger than my other one. I’m looking forward to repainting it and figuring out which fork and running gear I want on it.

All the bikes in our house that aren't little kid bikes are on 26" mountain bike wheels - an old Diamondback, a Schwinn High Plains, a Specialized Hard Rock, a Mongoose, a tiny Trek Sport 800 and a Trek comfort hybrid.

Lots of advances in those thirty years separating these two and while the Specialized is still fun to ride, the big brother does more things more easily.

Still a handsome steed after all these years. Gathered the bits and put it back on the road a couple years ago. It had been a parts donor for a bike I restored for the kid, and inertia ruled in the meantime. Now it seems weird having several bikes that all work at the same time.

One of my favorite 26 mountain bikes, the 2006 Trek 6500 SLR in yellow orange and scorch red, this was the last generation of Trek aluminium made frames in the USA

Great looking bike, and the timing of your post is great for me! I recently bought one of those frames and I’m gathering together parts to build it up. Love the paint job on them. It’s great to see yours as inspiration.

Thanks, the frame is very lively nervous, stiff and comfy. For the cockpit I chose Easton EA 70 stem and EA 30 Hi Rise Bar, the headset I had installed on it , is the Cane Creek's top of the range headset , the 110. For wheels, I didn't want standard wheels but custom built ones, that is why I chose the Mavic D521 rims laced the hope orange RS4 hubs and for the transmission Shimano XT 780 T bullet proof tranmission that works outstandingly well over many years in all conditions. You will certainly find some ideas for your project to make of it one of your favorite bikes. The paint job on it was truely one of a kind and you rarely see these on the trails anymore.

Just purchased this D Douglas Cyclone locally and there is always a good supply of 26" available, just thought this one was rather uncommon, has a connection with Colorado Cyclist making them available back then, road bikes as well apparently. Not any real information out there and this one was sold through a bike shop up here. Interestingly they made a point of making note that it has " stainless spokes " scripted on the chain stay protector.




Plan on installing a pair of Rene Horse Humptulips before long as it was stored in a garage for 35 years so basically in very good condition just the original CST tires are showing dry rot, that and a complete re greasing of all the bearings.. Will use it for casual trail riding. even though the tires are over double what I paid for this bike I like Rene Here tires and have some on a couple of 650b Rando bikes as well as a 1985 Norco Magnum GT so I guess I have been spoiled even if it hurts the wallet.
