Thanks for the advice, guys. I have an appointment for next week. He was not in complete agreement, or in agreement at all. I told him I was under the hood and the valves were really loud and it freaked me out. And I want to change it back for my head. He went with that argument. An English speaking mechanic in Merida; I want to hold on to him. He had a Chevron shop in L. A. for 11 years, when he was in his thirties. He changes the oil, and the coolant, when it needs it. I’ll have him check the belts and hoses. I was under there looking for a coolant leak, as it was a little low. And soon, the suspension and the boots and articulations. Any major stuff I take to the dealership, which isn’t as expensive as one might think.

The thing with Yucatán, maybe all of Mexico, is that you do the work as cheaply as possible, every time. I have learned to tell my electrician, and my other service people that I am happy to pay more to have higher quality service. I was really trying to get a mechanic here in Tixkokob to up his standards to Merida levels and I would pay him Merida prices. He simply couldn’t do it. After a long talk out in front of his shop, his next move was to offer me a used, fourth lugbolt. On our income we would struggle mightily in the USA, Here we are filthy rich. Sad.

Or I might just go back to Honda for oil changes too. I will compare this guy’s price, with synthetic oil, to theirs. I suspect it will be similar.

There’s obviously a hotly contested monthly post count race going on. 151 - 147 last time I checked.
You guys plan to keep this up until July, because it’s getting quite annoying. You should negotiate an alternating month schedule that will please all, especially the rest of us.

The spokes arrived yesterday afternoon. I carefully aligned the valve holes on the new rims so I could see the "Dura Ace" on the hubs through the hole, AND the spokes on either side run parallel. The guy who build the current wheels hadn't bothered with that silly detail, but since it costs me nothing to do, what the hell?
I bought Wheelbuilder.com's "Fix" spoke prep, so last night I cleaned all the spokes in mineral spirits followed by acetone before coating the threads. I've got 3 lengths, so I used 3 different Sharpies to color code them. So I'm all ready to go with no excuses left!

On Monday I lost a good friend of forty years. He went out mushroom hunting (morel season in se Ohio) and died of an apparent heart attack.
His wife of 54 years and his son, of course, are in shock. He/they likely had no idea he had a heart condition. My dad once went in for a routine checkup and they admitted him on the spot and did quadruple bypass surgery the next day.
He was 74 and active his whole life.

House showing #5 at 4 PM today. I got up and cut the grass early to put the cherry on top. Luckily my battery powered mower is somewhat quiet. Then we've been on the lam most of the day. Now a short break until we leave again. Roscoe has told me he's about to put his foot down. 1 showing that we know about for tomorrow.

They have scored a crap-ton of goals against one of the best goalies in the league. Had it not been for Georgiev not showing up for game one, they may have even been one game closer.

Parker Kligerman is a bad-ass. He was a driver that became a pit reporter due to lack of sponsorship and a ride. He would jump in a Craftsman Truck here and there and drive for a team with a couple full time employees. He kept contending for the lead, and actually winning a couple in that truck, and here he is now. He still works the pit in the Cup Series.

Well, there's also the cruise missiles (V1) and ballistic missiles (V2), and having their own nuclear physicists, etc.

Never heard of the acetone or mineral spirits treatment either. What’s that about?
I’ve got a pile of rims here, that need hubs and spokes. Perhaps I can move into the new age in that department too. I’m loving my 1 x 10 drive train.
