Nishiki International - Help Wanted!
The first bike I bought with my own money was a 1989 Nishiki Olympic Tri-A (sadly, long gone). So when this came up, my heart had to have it:
Now, the help. It has a set of xc sport 7000 derailleurs on it. Will they index with the right shifters? I have a set of 7 speed accushift downtube shifters, and a 7 speed shimano freewheel. Is that OK? Or should I try to find a 6 speed shifter set?

The XC Sport 7000 is Accushift but it will likely have an issue with the Shimano freewheel. I'd go with barcons and friction shifting with the Shimano but if you want to try Accushift, find a Suntour AP 7 speed freewheel, appropriate shifters and any decent 8 speed chain. For other detailed info, download the Suntour tech bulletin 21.

The XC Sport 7000 RD is compatible with the Accushift downtube shifters. As to the Shimano 7 speed freewheel you would have to try it to find out. According to Sheldon Brown Accushift 7 speed freewheels have the same 5.0mm pitch as the Shimano 7speed HG freewheels. But Suntour's own documentation seems to suggest that their cog spacing varies with cog position and is not one fixed pitch.

Indeed, the Suntour 7s indexing freewheels (and non-indexing ones as well) have asymmetrical spacing that is narrowed between the largest 3 cogs.
A 7s Shimano or similar Sunrace freewheel or cassette will have a larger 3.3mm spacer between the 2nd and 3rd-smallest cogs, but otherwise uniform spacing.
The later Suntour 7s Alpha freewheels (and even later Power-Flow freewheels) give the best shifting and will be spaced perfectly for your Suntour Accu-7 shifter and derailer.
Suntour 7s indexing setups seem to shift best with (narrower) 9s chain (this because of the Accu-shifter's generous "over-shift" movement).
