I usually ride the 25km to the cemetery to "check in on things" with my parents&grand parents.
Today I decided to drive there with my BMX on the rack (no way I could ride it 25kms x2).
I discovered a lot of interesting sections that were respectfully dedicated to the brave young people who fought for our Rights and Freedoms.
I was very moved and plan on doing this ride again. I'm sure there will be lots more to discover.........

This week I've been getting back on the bike after not riding since September. We have moved to a very nice neighborhood built around a now-failed golf course, but at least the streets are quiet and there are some good rolling hills to put me back in shape. I timed the rotation to have this bike for Sunday, and I left it in the 44x17 fixed-gear mode. I am still old, weak, and slow, but less so than I was when I started Tuesday, and I plan on getting better.

Nice bike!
must feel good getting back on.
I haven’t been on a bike in almost a year.
Dr says I should be able to ride in 8 weeks or so!

I got in 11.7 miles this morning as I slowly cycle myself back into shape. Julius the Mercian Vincitore fixed-gear was wonderful as usual. I avoided the pit bull on Clem Road only to have two encounters with lap dogs in the old Harris Mill Village. Fortunately, my response to them was firm but amused and patient - which is good because in both cases their elderly owners emerged to control their dogs, and both thanked me for being nice about it - which I thought was nice of them
Happy Father's Day, y'all!

Rode up to check out I-70 bridge construction at Rocheport. (Bike still has 5-speed left over from occasional winter indoor trainer workouts but this was strictly 42/17).
