Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

In other Canadien news, it was Andre the Giant's birthday the other day, here's a pic of him enjoying a 12oz can of Molson.

Busy day. Got to get everything done for the week in order to hit the road early tomorrow.

Rain disruption is possible.

Got my first cold late last week. Today it finally released its death grip on me. Really bad sore throat has abated but head and chest congestion continues. It was my first cold since January 2019 and I would prefer to keep my cold frequency at a 5 year interval.

Got a call that today’s game was canceled as I was enroute about a third of the way (28 mi) to the destination. Could have been worse had I been running on time.

15.
Another late ride, but on a cool morning. And intentional. Yesterday afternoon I discovered that what I thought was going to be an ear exam is actually a blood letting. Why they would need my glucose levels for an ear exam is beyond me. Maybe @datlas knows. So, getting up at three and waiting until after seven for coffee…..So I stayed up until the ungodly hour of 9:00 and managed to sleep until 4:30. And then didn’t have coffee until after 5. A practice run for tomorrow.
Today’s sightings were a roadside hawk and a lesser roadrunner. Both common, but only off the beaten path.

Realiy bad sore throat is a red flag for covid. As are cold symptoms.

yes I am aware it's a 50-50 chance that it was covid. It felt like a cold but it's a distinction without a difference. No testing done just WFH tue-today. Plan to go in tomorrow. Congestion started last week sore throat on Sunday.

I wanted to tell you I was rooting for the Pacers the other night. At first it looked like they might get overwhelmed but they fought back again and again and took the game into OT. Would be great if they could get a split in Boston tonight.

Final TTT practice this morning, race on Saturday. There is one other team registered in the 4-man 140+, which is an average age of 35+ for those not inclined towards mathematics. Things are getting more streamlined, pull length, rotation order, rider-specific strengths and weaknesses.

It's such a unique and cool event and so simple/pure - 4 guys trying to cover 40 km ASAP. Like ITT, the element of circumstance and luck is taken out compared to road racing. And even more so than ITT - TTT is about execution. It's all execution, and rewards practice.

This is my first time in the captain's role, and all together we are a notch or two down in speed compared to the supersonic teams I've done in the past where I've hung on for dear life. Now I'm the leader and strongest rider. A different vibe - still tons of fun!

Here's a photo of Liliana when they were packing up and getting ready to come home from Amsterdam. Sleep the last couple of nights has been crap (baby is adjusting), and I missed them quite a bit towards the end, but hey at least they got to spend quality time with family and at least I got some cool photos.

And with that I have reached my quota of quality content for the day. Time to get back to work, might chime in for a like or two here and there. Headed to a niece's play ("Finding Nemo") straight after work so we're busy today.

Update on spectacular display of heroism

I took this picture a few days ago of the tree that snagged the little doe.

Thread needs more Frankie and Sippi:

Sippi doesn't really mind the harness itself but if you put a leash on her she is able to get out of it immediately if there's any tension on the leash.

Which is a shame because she's so damn cute in that pink harness.
