1980s Pinarello cross frame

Thinking of letting this one go but wanted to get an idea of a value first. Bit of a rare beast as Italian cross bikes do not show up often. It will take 32c tires easily.

I could easily build this up but it's not clear to me that this would add much value to the bike. I figure whoever wants this bike is a tinkerer and will want to do their own build.

Sorry, no input on the value, but I'd agree that frameset is the way to go with this. Glad it's not my size.

What size is it? 55-56 ctt? One of these in probably the next largest size (seller listed as 58 ctt) in similar condition sold on eBay for $565 back in November 2023. Ebay link is dead but I noted it at the time for my budding vintage CX collection ideas. That seemed low to me, but maybe just after seeing COVID prices on everything for so long. I think closer to $650+ on eBay, lower locally. Like you said it's rare, but I'm not sure the demand is there, at least right now.

Speedcycles has a entry for an earlier model 1981 complete with market estimate of $1200.

At first, I was thinking that maybe it's not even a real Pinarello because I never come across such a bike from that manufacturer. But the staked on head badge pretty much says it's real. There's not that many prople into cyclocross bike as it's kind of a niche in the sport of cycling. But Cyclocross fans are very enthusiastic about the sport, and there are surely collectors and C&Vers among them that would jump on this frameset in a second. It's hard to put a value on this frameset as it is not a "mainstream" type bike.
only way to find out is to talk to actual C&V cyclocross bike collectors and riders. Tuere's a big possibilty that this frameset can bring in a lot of money, as it could be similar to how good C&V track bikes are usually priced pretty high on the market.

More of a stabbing guess, as a local sell I think I would put a Craigslist price of $450.

The popularity of gravel riding helps the value of this frame, as a passable gravel bike could be built with it.

Just having a hard time wrapping my head around the concept of Pinarrelo as somewhat gravel beater. Still really nice frame set $300-400 value wise.

As for the frame, one of those in worse shape than yours languished at $200 for the full bike of mosh mash parts, @bikemig

If the OP can show it fits 700cx38 that would be a big boost to salability. Cantilever Cyclocross bikes from prior to the 1990s tend to not appeal to gravel as much, since tire clearance is a big unknown. Many (or perhaps even most) 1980s CX bikes will only fit 700cx28 or 700cx32 and this is too small for C&V+gravel potential buyers from what I've seen. Not all of them but limits the market.

Looks like it might only fit 700cx32 - at least in the front.

Fits 700 x 35c comfortably. The bike would be pretty sweet with cross tubulars.
