There is heavy bike traffic through the city core bike lanes. Often you sit in a bike line for several minutes then do it again. And you don’t move fast when you move. I would guess the black helmet picks up more heat. Enough to notice. Regardless white helmet on the way.

I came in here looking for current recommendations for well ventilated helmets. Not sure why I thought that would be in here.

I have a two year old white Lazer with MIPs in large for the price of shipping if the OP is interested. Super light, well ventilated and excellent head protection. Looks like this but is LARGE.

Got my white helmet yesterday and it’s actually hotter than my black one !
I suspect the MIPS which also makes it less comfortable. Will pop that out next time and see how it goes.

Just wondering, as I tried on a Lazer last week (think it was called a Z1) in size Medium, which is my normal size -- and it was huge.

Interesting conclusion to this thread.

Okay, here it is:
I didn't address this portion of your post because it's too weird to take seriously. First, it's unlikely that removing part of the helmet will make it more comfortable -- and removal might not even be feasible. Second, it seems odd that you want to buy a safety device and make it less safe by removing a feature. Third, you've started a LOT of threads in which you ask for advice, but you argue with (and reject) any advice that does not confirm your pre-existing notions. (That's the origin of the term "fake news" in popular usage: trying to reject actual facts by simply asserting - without evidence - that they are false.)

From what I can tell it just pops out. A layer of plastic would definitely create an unfair comparison to my non MIPS black.
haven’t looked closely but this seems to be the case

You could also just remove the entire helmet. That might be cooler, unless you have white hair.

don't try this at home.
A foam cooler filled with ice isn't cold on the outside. Foam is an excellent insulator. Note that the white helmet images in this thread show black sides of the ribs anyway.
I really like my white Pearl Izumi wicking skullcap. It absorbs sweat and lets it evaporate. I get a lot less dripping into my eyes. (And I didn't want weird suntan patterns on my thinning scalp!)

The stripes of excellence?
Have gotten to the point where I have to spray my noggin with sunscreen before donning my lid. Maybe I need a wig glued to the inside of the helmet and then shock people when I take the helmet off.

I've seen WAY more than one or two posts mentioning that similar threads on similar topics existed.... therefore YOURS is redundant!
Oh look! A 3-page thread 'debating' the impact of helmet colour on temperature:
And on this forum no less.
TLDR: People here love arguing

As always, Spike Milligan, Harry Seacombe, and Peter Sellers of the Goon Show provide useful counsel. (If the clip starts at the beginning, go to 12:10 or thereabouts.)

It has been found that color doesn't make any difference with loose fitting clothing. An automobile would be different since it is sealed up. On thing to note is that darker colors are better for blocking UV over lighter colors.

The Goons' very successful run on the radio started in 1951 and lasted until 1960. So it's the other way around!
They're well worth a listen. Generally speaking, the Goons' shows were even wilder and more bizarre than the Pythons', thanks to the freedom afforded by the medium of radio (and to Spike Milligan's apparently limitless imagination).
After the Goons and before Python, John Cleese and Graham Chapman could be seen in "At Last! The 1948 Show!," an ensemble comedy TV show that also included Marty Feldman and other, less well known cast members.
