Any idea why I get the little box, and not the image itself? I am posting a link to an Imageshack picture.

how do you guys post such big pictures?
most of the time it says the file is too big (4,5MB). what's the size limit then?
links from flicker don't work at all and it says that the ones on photobucket are too big.
when i scale them down - they get tiny.

Out fishing with Annie on his lap, a cigar in one hand and a ginger ale in the other, watching the sunset.

The easiest way is to use Photobucket and paste the provided forum code for your uploaded image there and you get an image like the screenshot below
or you can upload your pictures to our servers like below

Two things. I haven't a clue what photobucket is. In order to upload to the server (my preference), I need to be able to get to the proper URL. I don't know how to do that.

If you right-click on the photo and a drop-down menu appears (Windows, mind you I don't use others) you should see Properties, go to it and click. A window will apper and a URL with the address of the picture will be in the middle. Use your mouse to copy it and make sure you are in advanced mode for the icons at the top (the box to click is at the bottom of you quoted reply box and quick reply boxes as well). There is a yellow box with what looks like a tree (insert IMG code for web images routine) and it opens the window to paste the URL in (if you don't paste over or wipe out the existing "https://" part it will not work right, only one http in the addreess--it's a quirk).
"Photobucket" is but one of many image/file hosting services that hold your files online to share. Flickr is another one, Fotki...look up file hosting.
You cannot post your home computer shots in the main message body like web images and files can be. They must be ATTACHED or put on a host site to find and post.
If your account laspses or they lose your photos then the pictures disappear. On the other hand you can show fine details from hosted photos immediately without opening the photo attachment routine. remember that if you want them there a long time as there are earlier posts to the site with X's and 404 messages from hosts. It might do you well to either post the thumbmails or the HTML now and replace it with thumbnails later,
SO, summing up, post other people pix for examples with the IMG command, post your hosted files the same way or use the attachment manager for thumbnails.
Hope that helped you and welcome to Bike Forums!

Enter, move it to the right spot if it's not in the right one with cut and paste. Preview, repeat to add more.
