Should be last post for couple of months. I had TKR on July 5th. A bit of complications so no walking for at least 6 weeks and no cycling for 2 months. At least I can watch the TdF and fatten up.

Keep cycling everyone, keep putting up this great numbers.

Good point! The bike is back together now and I also put on a new chain. I have 40 miles on a new pair of shoes that seem OK. Still have to wrap the handlebars with some new tape, but things are just about there for RAGBRAI this coming weekend.

Didn't get many miles a couple of weeks recently, but I should make my goal this month and should be right around 1800ytd going into RAGBRAI.

I've not been feeling well the past few days, missed two days riding. Got myself back out there today, still a bit under the weather, so didn't want to push it. Felt good to at least get back out there.

Not a good situation tonight. On my way back I rolled up to a road crossing about 3 miles from home to find an emergency response. Multiple police SUVs, ambulance, fire truck. Looked like someone was hit crossing on a bike. Bent bike to the side, at least one person down on the sidewalk being attended to. Kids and kids bikes around, I hope it wasn't a family crossing. I didn't want to be a gawker, so I carefully rolled through and headed home.

It's not a particularly dangerous crossing. There are several others on my route that worry me a lot more. There is a crosswalk, plenty of visibility in both directions, and flashing pedestrian lights as long as you press the button (I admit I never do). You just need to be damn sure traffic sees you and is stopping, because there are plenty of cars that blow through even when you are in the crosswalk. And this accident happened in the dark, so there is that factor in play as well.

Hopefully everyone will end up being OK.

Scary. Don’t even like to think about it.

Another tubeless save this morning. I had to cut my route short by a few miles, it took two CO2 cartridges to finish the last 10 miles and I got home with 28 PSI in the rear tire, but there was no call of shame.
