Won't work. The 10 cogs take up the same space as 9 cogs, so they're spaced differently. 3.95mm vs 4.34. So if your chain is lined up correctly on the smallest cog, you'll be way off by mid cassette.

I reckon a good departure from period spec would be the totally sweet threaded to threadless adapter headset one of the members here came up with, always forget his name. Then you can use a modern stem with 31.8 bars, which would really help this thing get up and boogie when you stand on it.
The adapter I speak of totally craps all over your standard quill to threadless adapter; it's almost as nice as using a threadless 1" fork and shim.

I believe that is the infamous deep spline hub they had for a couple of years. The only cassettes that had deep splines were Ultegra and Dura Ace 10sp. Possibly 105 as well but I'm not sure about that. Good idea in theory but stupid in execution since you're limited in cassette selection. I have an aftermarket wheelset with deep splines and I didn't even know about it when I bought it.

I have been eyeing a Saeco Red Cannondale... price has been dropping... This thread reminds me on what to look at/for.
Thanks.
