There could be a meet-up at this event, maybe around 11-noon (for a coffee break).
Will the museum be open?
I'm thinking of calling them up to ask about where is a good place to park nearby, the nearby market parking lot isn't big and the church lot will be as full as it gets. I might have to ride there from wherever parking can be found.

Well, a lot of cool stuff and reminiscing, but buyers were picky. With a little more advertising, this could be a really good swap. Got my asking price on my best bike to offset my food and shopping bill, lol. Brent stopped by to say hi.

Sunday's swap was actually pretty good for this buyer, plenty of vendors, decent prices and I kept to my plan to not spend too much and to get in a few hours of off-road riding time up on Mt. Tam riding my Pedersen following the swap (and after having a beer with the museum crowd).
I Met Joe Breeze, who asked to compare (with a micrometer, no less) my Cheltenham Pedersen with the Copenhagen Pedersen on display in the museum. A variety of design parameters were compared and discussed, and I think that he correctly concluded that the clevis/bushing of my fork's lower pivot point could still benefit from an upgraded design (I'd had it repaired and strengthened 20 years ago).
The weather was perfect for the swap and for the riding, and I came home with some prized Simplex LJ gear and a half-dozen 25mm road tires.
I see on Craigslist Sacramento that there will be a bike swap in Fremont Park on the 9th, just a week after this last one. This one has drawn many vendors and exhibits from the lowrider segment over the last few years, but there have also been a few vendors selling road/mtn stuff as well.

I was a good swap, didn't find ALL the little bits I was shopping for but made a stop into Trips for Kids recyclery on the drive South and found one more piece there so it was a productive day!
Thanks for posting these reminders! A big help for us who are 'memory-challenged'.

I saw that. The Novato store will probably have better advertising seeing that it benefits the Marin Bicycle coalition. Either way, it helps to promote the event yourself.

The Pedaler announced its swap date this year for Sunday, October 27th. Not sure on cost, but last year it was a donation to a volunteer bmx park in Richmond.

I never saw one this year in the "usual" spot in San Jose (it wasn't Trailhead) in the big strip mall with large parking lot....did the host bike shop go under?

Anyone been to the sports basement swap before. Is it outdoors? Mostly vintage, road, mtb, new? I bought a spot and am trying to plan what to bring. --Greg

Hey Greg, postup a craigslist ad. I'm guessing it will be a general mix of stuff. Maybe call Adrian and ask. You going to Sunnyvale or Novato?

Overall I'm very happy with the re$ults. Plenty of buyers. Good variety of sellers, too. I didn't sell much c&v stuff but made up for it with bars, posts, wheels and small stuff for mtn bikes. I cleared north of $500. And with free hotdogs and beer to all I think that's enough to keep me coming back for more

I find that I have to go to any Marin swap because of the opportunity to ride Mt Tam's trails after the swap. It's the most fun place to get lost, makes for a longer riding day!
This had to be my first bike swap where I bought nothing, mostly because of my time spent working at a co-op where parts are everywhere for cheeep.
Hat's off to Sports Basement for hosting not only the swap but the bikefest itself, free coffee, bagels, mini Cliff Bars and even Sierra Nevada Pale Ale!!!
I also made it to the Fairfax Mountain Bike Museum, for a trail map and to make a donation to their good cause.

They are still working on the details. I'm sure they wouldn't mind having the vintage locals getting together...
