Picked up this Schwinn Duro. Thinking I would pair it with a High Sierra. Mid 80's? With 18" wheels and bullmoose bars...

I’m in my home town for a high school class reunion and, as usual, cruised the thrift stores and pawn shops for bikes. I’ve found some fun projects in this and other small towns that way. This time I found this 2001 Trek 6500 in a pawn shop for $70. The tires and tubes have been replaced but the rest of it looks original. The 3X9 Deore group set is in great shape, and the frame has mounts for disk calipers. It looks to me like the 6700 from that year used the same frame and had an option for disk brakes.
I cleaned it up, adjusted the derailleurs, lubed the chain, aired up the tires, and went for a ride on the multi-use path that runs behind our RV park. There are some paint dings that I think I can touch up and I’m going to rebuild the fork. It’s otherwise all in such good shape that I’m going to leave it stock.

Cool little ride. Mini Bullmoose? edit: or are they full size, cut narrow? never seen those. How wide are they?

Many of those parts are not original. I know, I bought 2 1986 Trofeos (and I have one in my basement). It should have Campy Super Record derailleurs, an Ofmega crank/BB, and Modolo Equipe brakes. I’m “restoring” the bike I bought when I was in college for L’Eroica in Chianti.

The FD and maybe the wheels are original, too. I don’t have the original fork (due to an accident). I wish I had yours! Looks like the same size as mine (59cm).

This one was probably going to the thrift store if I hadn't grabbed it. The patina is fairly serious, but the tubes are undamaged. I've not yet decided how I will build it back up.

Was driving home from doggie playtime and spotted this hanging at a neighborhood garage sale. Looked my size so had to check it out. Great condition and got it for $10. No Fear brand too. Will definitely be worn.

Picked this up Monday, and got it rolling today. ~1997 Vision R40.
I used to have a Bike-E, but always thought the short wheelbase bikes looked cooler.
Got less than a block before I fell on my elbow!
And then he threw in this Super V 700, a box of parts (lots of front rings), and three extra sets of wheels.

Not vintage, but it has “retro” in the name. I won this bike at an event called pedal for prizes in Old Brooklyn Cleveland. It’s a great event, been to it many times. This year was really well attended and the whole family had a good time. My 12 year old
daughter pedaled 10 miles on her own power, so I was proud of her effort.
