Repainted frames are almost impossible to identify. Is there a Bianchi stamping on the dropouts? Can you post a few detailed pics of the frame.

It does to me it just seems too perfect for a factory finish. I also don't believe it is a Bianchi or at the very least not a Reparto Corse frame. The style of the fork crown looks wrong and there is no B or Eagle, there is a slot in the RD housing stop under the chainstay, there is no cartouche of any type on the seat stays, {again that would make it a lowerend Bianchi, no Bianchi or later than '86** the dropouts have an eyelet, which may not be too unusual for an RC frame there do not seem to holes for adjuster screws.
Back to the paint, it looks to good, someone made an effort to paint inside the seatpost, Oh right that cutout doesn't look Bianchish either, the Bianchi decals are on wrong, the made in Italy seems to be the wrong style, the placement of the Columbus decal is wrong, and an '86 from the factory would very likely not have a '86/87 world champion decal on it.
Ask what the BB shell size is and the seatpost diameter.

Not only that but the seller has some bad recent feedback. That would lend me to believe that they might be trying to pull a fast one with that frame. No wonder there are "no refunds and no returns".

I just picked up a sport sx today, and I'll admit I havent had the time to look through all the pages of this thread, but I will when I get a chance. In the meantime if any of you would lend me your expertise and help me get an idea of the year and whatever else I can tell about this bike I'd greatly appreciate it. As i said, its a sport sx, light blue in color. rear dropouts are stamped with "bianchi", 700c wheels, front hub is suzue. RD is shimano deore, not sure thats original. diacompe brakes and levers. I havent looked at it long, I grabbed it on my lunch break knowing it would only be available for as long as it took me to get there. serial # is AS690575 on the underside of the bottom bracket. seat tube has label that says "chromo double butted tange", and the fork is labeled "mangalloy". Hi i'm new here and i'm wondering of you can help me to identify my Bianchi (if it's no fake). I'm pretty sure it's not original at all, but for the information it has a campagnolo c-record group, ttt handlebar and steering tubes, giepimme dropouts, serial nr: at one side 7794 and at the other site of the bracket A9. The fork is the only thing on the bike that has a Bianchi stamp. The colombus sticker is fade away so you can't read it any longer. Any ideas?

Hello arneds, welcome to the forums. Where is this bike? Europe?
The components I can see are not C-Rec but Athena. The red border on the Columbus sticker leads me to believe this a SLX frame. I would say this model is the equivalent of the U.S. market '89 Giro the third bike down in the line up that year.

thanks for the info, I live in belgium. Another question how can you tell the differents between athena and c-record, when you look at the pictures it seems the same for me (except for the delta brakes and pedals)

It is easy!! 
Campagnolo did share some parts between groups like shifters and brake levers. Some things are obvious like the C-Rec Delta v the side pull calipers of the Athena. Then there is the shape of the crankset and the hidden 5th arm on the C-Rec crank. In the early years '89-93ish the RDs were easy to tell apart but after both groups got Ergo with a modified shipmano copy RD it became harder to tell the difference and also like shipmano Campagnolo had to start printing group names on components.
Velobase.com is a good source for checking the ID of CampI parts.

That is a huge bike does it fit? It looks like an '86 but with a replaced RD, maybe to handle for wider gearing than stock, and different bar/stem.
I hope it is just the angle of the pic but I am a little concerned about the fork.

it must be the angle, it's perfectly fine, if the components hadn't been changed Id say it looked like it was barely ridden. Another very knowledgeable member also said it was an 86. It's not excessively big in person, 63 cm, the seatpost is actually set a little high for me, the previous owner was taller. $25 for a bike in almost perfect condition minus the tubes...no reason to complain

I have a similar bianchi, and I was thinking the same thing, around an 86 (I have an 84 and an 87). The frame does look huge. Looks like drivetrain could use a good cleaning. Good score for $25.

AR Tubing?
Hey all,
Back in 2003 on these forums PHATMAN asked the following:
nope, just a gold decal/sticker that says
Bianchi, then AR on the next line (in big letters) then on the next two lines it says "tubi rinforzati". I'll try to get a picture later.
Following that thread no definitive answer relating to this sticker was posted. Someone did say the rinforzati meant it was a good double butted tubing, but a Google translation seems to have no English translation for this word. I just bought a 1981/82 vintage Bianchi SPORT SS that has that same sticker, albeit my sticker is pretty much destroyed. One of the only things on this bike that shows wear!!
Here is a picture of the tubing sticker from an almost identical bike on eBay. The glare doesn't do the sticker justice, but an email to the seller didn't get a response. I guess if your not interested in buying the bike the seller isn't interested in helping.

Here's a few pictures of my 81/82 Bianchi SPORT SS - It's in Metallic Copper color. Nothing has been done to this bike except dusting it off! Notice it has original Bianchi labeled tires that still have lots of tread life in them. I plan on using this on my trainer stand, but will remove the rear tire and save that for real road driving only! I live near Chicago so it may be a couple more months before this sees the outdoors 
Any help identifying the tubing label "AR" in my previous posting please let me know.
Oh BTW, I removed all the reflectors and bagged them. I'm not a reflector person.

'90s EL-OS from a forum newb
Hi Bike Forumers—
I've lurked here for years but now I thought I'd go "live" and enter my Bianchi in to the mix to either get final clarification as to it's year &/or add the serial# in to the knowledgebase
I bought this frameset used in San Francisco in the mid '90s from Planetary Gear bike shop & built it up with a mix of my old '84 Bianchi Campione D'Italia parts & a mishmash of parts that worked to fulfill my needs & still serve flawlessly today... Sugino Mighty cranks & drill chainring, Bianchi fluted & painted seatpost, Salsa stem, Modolo Speedy levers & brakes, Nuovo Record derailleurs & shifters, vintage Concor saddle & NOS Benotto pink wrap. It's always been a vintage Campy hubset kind of a bike, but I am currently running it as a 1-speed (cause I can, right?) with the high-flange Record radial wheel/FIR rim in front & a Suntour XC/FIR rear.
Anyway, enough preemptive prattling, thanks to any info that comes from this, & it no info, thanks for all the great bikes to look at & community.

Hi just joined the forum; i recently picked up a bianchi with a serial # of 863730 on BB with full 600 groupo.
Seems strange that the serial didn't have a letter in it somewhere, it also has the made in Italy sticker which appears to be authentic according to the condition of it and from what I have seen online, also all the decals that say bianchi seem correct, but there is no decal saying what model it is.
It seems like it should be a limited due to the black fork and seatstays.
Any ideas just from the SN?
