Today was a special day, as I got not only one, but two packages.

First was from Mad Honk and was a pretty special piece of kit - a Shimano BB in Italian threading for the Guac. This will allow me to build it up with Ultegra/Dura Ace and is the start of a great/smooth build!

Here is what it’s going on…

The final thing was this little box that contained all the things that we know and love around these parts…

This came from our very own former forum member
and contributor extraordinaire, Drillium Dude! Perhaps some of you knew, and maybe some of you didn’t, but he really took me under his wing during the Huffy build since I was basically clueless about Campy stuff and he was an expert and also has a very discerning eye. He has been helping me with returning this one to its former glory as a Trek 938:

This one is going to get fully torn down and rebuilt with a full NR group and Jeff has been helping me put it together.

Each one has sort of been sponsoring/inspiring each one of these respective builds, out of their good nature - and I only hope that I can build up each bike in a way that can honor their efforts.

Both of these fine gentleman have been sending me this stuff for free (and yes, including the Guac frame!) and I have been extremely grateful for their generosity. I feel very blessed and hope I can either return the favor or pay it forward with a like-minded generosity.

Its been a good day.

A set of early seventies MAFAC "2000" brake calipers. They don't show up very often, and I think those wheel guides are cool. I'm not entirely sure how to measure them, but they look to be of the M3A (long reach) variant.

Keep a good grip on that chain-tension spring when you wind it back around. They can really getcha'!

These are just about my favorite brakes, one of the first high end components I ever bought when I really dove into this, I have never found a decent set at a price I could stomach, yet.

Today I got in the Conti GP 5000 700 x 23 tires that are probably going on the 84 Raleigh Prestige. They substituted Michelin Latex tubes for the VIttoria's I had ordered. That's never happened before. They did send an extra inner tube though with a handwritten apology. So I'm good with it.

A tape wallet arrived while I was in Portland. First chance to use it was yesterday. Way better than a rubber band!

That's why I checked, the Competitions are between these and Racers, they are also cool with the wheel guides, their arms are flatish like Racers and newer 2000's and Competitions are very similar, many being gold and with the small inlaid emblems.

If you had a couple sets of engraved 2000's, that would be something.

They most certainly are! They are called "Bofix Nippelplaatje". Stainless steel plates to reinforce and protect a rim.
Not sure how easy they are to find outside of the Netherlands but I can always ship some. They are used for the classic single-walled Westwood style rims over here that most roadster Omafiets bikes use.

Sometimes I get excited. I did buy a couple of sets of straddle cables for them just to be sure I had backups. I will eventually set up a gitane 531 bike up with them and a sturmey hub. Be the ultimate 3 speed! The crap I have in my basement.

A nice rider quality set of Superleggera pedals from @Brewsmith to replace my old ones on the Paramount. I broke the toe tab off my right one some 40 or so years back.

It'll be interesting to see if I can breathe some life into the Bindas. They're flexier than the ones in my bin...

A used set of TA Carmina cranks, with a 130/74 BCD spider. They were cheap, so I figured I needed them.

Why does the theme of Carmina Burana run through my head imagining these spinning along...?
