Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

It was about 80* sunny and low humidity. A little windy today but not too bad. 10 mph sustained headwind on the way back solo.

Bunch ride today in wind and rain around 3C. 15 guys went down like skittles in front of me on black ice just past the border of two counties, one of which hadn't bothered to grit the road. I was hanging a few yards off the back and some how managed to come to a halt without falling off or crashing into a body or bike. Only another 2 guys who were at the front didn't go down. Quite spectacular, but fortunately no one was badly hurt: just scuffs, bruises and ripped kit. A car coming in the opposite direction flashed us an instant before the crash to try and warn us as it had seen another car ahead go off the road and into a ditch. Ride cut short as we turned around and raced home counting our blessings. Take care out there!

I admire all you cold weather folks, envy the warm weather folks, and hope all you that are under the weather -no pun intended - get back on the saddle soon.
