This was my first race and I was leading the main pack when I decided to attack on a familiar climb. Unfortunately the course was changed the week before the race and I was too stupid to double check the route. When the route took me to a different climb, I decided to wait up for the pack. Big mistake. Nobody knew who I was and the pack decided to chase at nearly 30 mph. Needless to say when I was swallowed up by the peloton, I was promptly spit out the back. It was a lonely ride to the finish. Live and learn.

I was kidding about the heart rate. The highest my HR has ever been measured in a lab was 195. It got to 194 just after I crossed the line.
