Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Speaking of..
I coach youth track with our local running club. My group is a bunch of 9 and 10 year olds. My oldest does track and cross country with this same club (she’s not in my group). My wife had dinner plans last night so I had to bring my youngest daughter with me. She is 9 and completely smoked everyone in her group in the sprints. She beat the fastest boy by about 3 seconds, I think it’s something she should get in to.

Many, many years ago, Honda and other makers added the little sunglass holder in the roof. Many a rattle was solved by service guys reaching in and removing forgotten sunglasses from the little cubbyhole.

Good ride last night, even though I felt like my legs were full of lead. Headwind on the out bound leg. Made it tough. But I hung in there. Fast on the way back. I hit 34.5 mph sprinting back to the group after a separation. Thank you Zwift! That was fun! Unfortunately a good friend revealed go me she was diagnosed with breast cancer. That's a hard pill right there. Total health nut. Vegan. Not an ounce of fat on her. Non smoker, non drinker. Wtf? Cancer?

Yeah, outdoor track season starts in early Spring . . . it's horrible . . . for both the kids and the parents. But it does build character in those kids, I find it admirable their determination to compete in that weather. I've got some personal pictures somewhere.

A fast food store, maybe Der Wienerschnitzel, was giving away little plastic hot dogs. A customer brought a car in complaining of a buzzing noise at highway speed. The tech discovered the hot dog on the radio antennae was vibrating in the wind and making the noise.

Yep. That's how cancer works. It can hit anyone, and all the healthy lifestyle stuff can only reduce, never eliminate the risk.

On the plus side, caught early, it's very treatable.

I've been watching the highlights on GCN Racing on YouTube, but can't watch the race itself, because of that job thing.

I remember driving I-80 in Nevada in late May, way back in '88, and it was snowing between Winnemucca and Elko. Not much, but seeing snow in late May was weird.
