Axiom panniers

I post mostly in the C+V or commuting forums but the wife and I are wanting to do a 2 or 3 day light tour this summer I saw some Axiom Seymour Panniers. Anyone have any experience with them? Look like they would be good for commuting and light touring. Thanks

I've used the Cartier or however it is spelled and also I now use the Monsoon waterproof for my front panniers. They are decent quality with a lifetime warranty. My stuff has always remained dry. The attachment is simple and effective.

I feel that for the money they are pretty darn nice bags.

i just purchased the axiom dutch shopper panniers. yes, i know they're designed for grocery getting and not touring but i figure if they will haul a good load of groceries, then why can't they be used for other cargo?

I have the Champlain (sic). They are nice and rugged. Well suited for the open road.

Ordered them from Jenson for something like 28.00 and change plus shipping. Will see but I don't think at that price I can go wrong.

I wore out a pair of champlains in maybe 3 months of touring/camping. They are quite practical but not very rugged. The rubber coating on the attachment hooks is a joke too, had to keep fixing mine with tape.

I'm realistic enough to figure that they aren't the answer to heavy touring and since I don't sleep on the ground anymore (why I stopped backpacking) I figure they should be ok for my usage. If they suck I'll sure post it but I have looked at a couple of LBS and they have some of the Axiom stuff and they seemed well made enough but three times what I paid for these so we shall see. Wife and I want to take the bikes only to the San Juans this summer and ride at least one possibly two of the islands so we need something big enough take extra clothing for a couple of nights and these look like they should work. If I like this set I'm gonna get another set for her bike.
