garbage fenders from Giant- negative website review not posted

I bought a set of these fenders: https://www.giant-bicycles.com/ca/sp...ur-700c-fender and they are absolute garbage. Incredibly bad design that at best needs constant adjustment and at worst pops apart while you are riding.

I left a negative review on Giant's website a month ago and it hasn't been posted.... it seems like none of their products have reviews. Every product I have looked at says 'No Reviews / Write the First Review'.

.
...that "plastic clip on the side where the stay inserts" has always been a problematic design, and has been used by a number of manufacturers over the years. You can modify it by removing the stay clips and stays, and going to a different mounting system for about 20 bucks, but by the time you add the original price you paid to the hardware to modify, you've already spent about what a solid set of VO fenders would have cost. Here's an example of what I'm talking about. In this case, I got the fenders for free. so it was worth the additional work.

I think the reason for that unfortunate design was some kind off idea that the fenders would be safer, if they pulled loose from the stays in the event of an incident of interference with a stick or some road debris. I agree that these are more likely to cause a crash in and of themselves, if they pull or shake loose while you are riding.

You might be able to engineer a cheaper fix using some sort of contact cement on the stay ends, before you insert them. I doubt epoxy will work, because of the slick, impermeable surfaces at point of contact.

I don't think Giant is unusual in censoring negative reviews of their products. But thanks for trying.

They are made by Giant...I wouldn't be surprised.

I used silicone inside the plastic fitting to keep them in place, and allow them to release if something jams between tire and fender. The design is only slightly flawed with an easy fix, yet keeps it functional. Previously I had things wedge between the front fender and tire and something had to give. Sadly it was the fender that cracked in half. With this design that risk is minimized.

Their site, their rules...

I am sure I am being naïve but I expect better. I can't think of another e-commerce site that I use personally that doesn't post negative reviews but of course it does make sense.

Thank-you for suggestions on how to make the fenders useable. I tried using a polyurethane glue (Gorilla) which helped but I will probably replace the fenders.
