Just in case I'm not the only one watching an approaching snow storm and thinking about hot, clear summer days. I've been thinking back 6 months to
6:00 am on the Erie Canal, east of Lockport, NY, and eastbound. Cool morning but a fine, hot, clear day ahead. 4 days after canal operations were re-opened for the summer.
One of my 4 campsites on this trip. And my well loaded 1987 Schwinn Voyageur holding up that tree. One flat tire, one slipped derailleur cable (easily reset) and 285 miles of New York State. Packed a dry tent each morning. Wow.

This is a 2-way road. My wife is in the passing area waiting for the car.
A genuine cobble road with a sett stone "bike path" edge.

Kopfsteine! I love that in Brandenburg, fantastic cobbles, some of the nicest in the world.

Mind you, "worst" means "best" for a cobblestone afficionado.
To be fair, my back doesn't entirely agree with me anymore, and when it starts acting out, those sandy paths can be a healthy compromise.

I was lucky in Mexico and Guatemala that at least I had 2in tires that helped, but some of them were so bad it was hard to even walk on them in places.

It's mad, at home before you go there you think: bahhhhh have done it, will be good! And when you hit the first cobbles with 28mm tires you think: why have I come again ;(( !!!!

Working on a story and video about our bicycle trip to Andalucía, Spain last year. Watching the videos rekindles memories about the beautiful pueblo blancos...and flashbacks about the steep roads there! This is a still pulled from a 4k video shot with an Insta360 One RS with 1" sensor.

Sounds like a great trip. Nice scenery!
Not certain which particular route you chose, but ... Just wondering, in the photo of you at sunrise (?) with the mountains behind you, is that the Anza Borrego wilderness just north of the US/MX border?
Of course, the trip all the way to Ushiaia, Tierra del Fuego, will be spectacular. Dang. Only way (these days) I'd ever be capable of making such a trip would be with a set of car keys. Envious.
