whats it worth
I found a 2010 caad9 with 105 components, size 58 if that matters. Supposedly has 700 miles on it. The guy wants $800. Maybe i can get it for $750. That a good deal and is that a good bike? Supposed to be the last year they were made in USA too.

750 is a pretty good price in my opinion. You arent going to find anything else as good as that bike for that price.

i got my dad the same bike a few weeks ago at a bike swap for $600. The bike looks basically brand new. You might be able to talk him down more. BTW he loves it!

Well, i went and rode it, and it is a nice bike. Seems to be in real good condition. Bt he wont budge off of $800. I told him i may be back, but am starting to think that there may be a better deal to ne had. I have a decent bike now. May just let it pass, unless i get some rave reviews on this bike. Decisions decisions. Btw, whats better about the caad10 than the caad9? I currently have a caad8, nice but cheapcomponents and weak rims. Hell may just give him 8 and be happy lol

There isn't a huge difference between the 9 and the 10 but I don't know that I would "upgrade" from an 8 to a 9. Maybe just a new set of wheels will suffice and be much cheaper.. Just thinking out loud here.

Thanks for all the replies. Part of my thinking is that if I get this bike for $800 and could potentially sell mine for $450 or maybe more?? then I would only have $350 invested in upgrading from a caad8 with the cheapest components (Sora) and probably wheels (maddux rs3.0) to the Caad9 with 105 stuff. It did shift a Lot better than my 8 and has 1,300 less miles than mine does. I know there's no definate answer to what I'm asking, just looking for some decent advise.
BTW, my caad8 is a 2012

i would think you could get at a minimum $600 for your bike(if in good shape). You might want to do a little research on that. Just a guess on my part.
If you want a bike with more of a race geometry i think you would be hard pressed to get one as good as the 9 for maybe a $200 difference. That's just my 2 cents. Not sure if the 105 is 5600 or 5700, either way it will be better than sora.

Not sure you can count on getting $600 for a used bike with Sora; but this deals seems worth the $250-350 difference to me (if you can swing it). What wheels are on the 105 CAAD9?

Not only are you getting a better drivetrain, wheels, etc you're getting an all carbon fork, which is suppose to ride better (assuming your CAAD8 is not a Made in the USA). I have a CAAD 9 105 and love it.

Not sure about the wheels on the 9. My 8 came with the carbon fork too. By the time I upgraded mine, I would have more than if I just did this deal and sell my 8. Only funny thing is, I like the paint on my 8 better. How much better is the 9 frame than the 8? Kinda thinkin about swapping frames and selling it that way. Probably a dumb idea tho. IDK.

Well, i went ahead and pulled the trigger on it. Very noticable improvement all around. Smoother ride. This one is made in usa, so it may be a 09 model. I think im gonna be happy with the switch, just need to sell my caad8 now.

Thanks guys, and i think yall are right. Its a pretty big improvement i can tell already. The 8 just feels a little wal-martish compared to the 9. The 9 has a noticeably smoother ride, that and the shifting, and the true wheels. Plus it feels 5 lbs lighter. Thanks for all the help!
