Thanks. I suppose that with the Nuvinci hub, you don't even have to worry about indexing, right? It's infinite, with no in-between zones. So why couldn't you use some of the existing cable stops?
According to Anthony King of Longleaf Bicycles, the Shimano Nexus hub doesn't need continuous cable housing, so I should be able to utilize most if not all cable stops on the drive-side. Can't wait to receive the frame!

I've posted this in Catch of the Day, but here is the Mercian 531 Mixte I'm going to do up for my girlfriend. It's got a Williams cottered crankset, and a Campy Gran Sport (I think - I forget) rear der. All it really needs is the bar tape and seat replacing (what WAS the previous owner thinking?) and a bit of a tuneup and regrease. I'd kinda like to have it resprayed too, but she likes the gothicness of the current paintjob.

I'm building it up for my Daughter. She's supposed to be helping, but has taken on more of a supervisor role in this project.

This is not a vintage ride, but my sister-in-law has been after me to put together a bike for my 14 year old (soon to be 15 year old) niece's b-day. Her list of requirements seemed outlandish at first, given her budget and the fact that my niece is 5'10"! But then I discovered that Origin8 has a 58cm mixte frame for super cheap. Not the finest in craftsmanship, but it is 4130 chromoly and everyone that rode it liked the ride quality. I threw on some Mafacs for good measure - présenter ses hommages classique!

1974 (I think?) Gitane from my neighbor. He bought it new for his wife from a Toyota dealership that (i guess) also sold bikes. It has literally never been ridden. The little rubber nub that runs down the middle of the tire after manufacturing is still there. Not sure what I'm going to do with it as it's too small for me and my wife has no interest in riding it.
/Why yes, that blue thing in the background is a 51' Schwinn frame w/ sweetheart skiptooth chainring.

She was waitress there for about a year, 4 or 5 years ago. Great food at Crow's Nest and we still like to go there. I didn't like Fourth Coast much then because it was still OK to smoke in there and I always came out of there stinking of cigarettes. It is probably better now in there with the law changes.
And, to keep this on topic, here is her Suteki mixte.

I just finished with my first mixte build today! This thread has been a good source of inspiration though and what an adventure it has been too...

A real beauty! I like the color and all the nice little finishing touches: fenders, pedals and the twine on the handlebars and bike stand.

Pretty psyched about this--just finished doing some mods on this old '81 or '82 Bridgestone Carmel city bike to make the ultimate commuter for my wife. With the kinds of work clothes she needs, I was looking for something that could accomodate fenders and a chainguard, but that's still faster/sportier than her old dutch bike. It's a 1 x 6 drivetrain. Just finished adding basket, rear rack, different ergo grips, new Michelin touring tires, and cleaned everything up. Bell and rear light are the only things left to add, which I just finished
Her old mixte that I was modding out couldn't effectively take the fenders/rack I was shooting for, so I'll switch this back to being more sporty for long recreational rides:
The frames on both of these look almost brand-new. These bikes must've spent a lot of garage hang-time over 30 years!

Here's my wife's new Soma mixte. It's pretty much all new, except for the crankset, BB and brake levers, which are vintage. It's built around 650B VO diagonale rims, Grand Bois Hetre tires and a Shimano Nexus 8 IGH:

Picked up this "Fleetwing" which was supposedly sold at Eatons. The thing looks like it's never been ridden, and has zero chain stretch. I swapped the bars and put new pads on the brakes as the old ones were dried out pretty bad. Rear Wheel needs to be trued a bit and brakes still need a little adjusting. Built it up for my sisters friend who needed to get a bike on a students income, only needed to repack the headset and front wheel with small adjustment to derailluers. Bike + upgrades = $70. Hi Tensile steel, with Suntour derailleurs/shifters, and Suzue hubs (steel wheels though, ick).

southpaw,
That soma looks great! I've been putting B67's on my mixtes, but I love that B17 on yours - my favorite saddle (I've got 3 or 4).
