To wear pro cycle kits or not to?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I wear a generic Bianchi Jersey and Bib(no sponsors or team insignia, just the manufacturer). I do have an older Lotto Belisol jersey from '12 but only wear it on training rides.

I don't have any team jersey but I have thought about getting this one. I doubt that people are going to think that I am Robert Millar.

wearing it with this bike

Which would be period correct. I would not be buying the complete kit.

lol look at my cassette vs Robert's, no one will be confusing us.

Nice kit and bike that. Most roadies would approve!

I wouldn't wear pro kit normally - I only have my club kit and some generic jerseys from Sportsful, Castelli, Santini, Mavic, Gore, Etxeondo and the like, but I saw this offer today and thought, why the hell not!?

BMC SS Jersey, Bibs and Shoe Bag for 45EUR!

I haven't actually ordered this, but it is tempting, no matter what the rules say ...

BMC kits in XXL never cease to crack me up. I don't care if the rider hears me, or not.

Yeah, well it looks like Mr Millar was doing a time trial in this pic. Explains the straightblock freewheel, skinsuit and cap with no bill. Cool pic!

To wear a complete kit? Yeah...not my bag...too "matchy" for me.

I have a couple modern pro jerseys (Saxo, Omega/QuickStep)...I'll wear them from time to time, I enjoy it. I don't have a complete kit...but there's really no difference. I have a 1985 replica Royals World Series jersey too...and multiple Chicago Bears jerseys...I'm a fan I guess.

I agree with others, wear what you want. I strongly doubt many will mistake the common mortal for a real team rider simply because he is sporting a pro team kit.
