Some of these tow the line between touring or city bike and hybrid, and some used the same model name for non-hybrid incarnations, but here are a few contributions:
Bianchi Volpe, Axis, Equinox, Backstreet
Fuji Del Rey
Colnago Master Alloy, City Bike
Koga-Miyata Cityliner, World Traveler, Traveler
Marin Point Reyes, Redwood
Mountain Goat Route 66
Nishiki Katmandu
Panasonic CB 5000, CB 4000, CB 3000, South Street
Raleigh XC80, XC50, Moonshine, Nevada
Univega Activa Ambition

As for the South Street, in the '93 catalog, they actually had two versions, the South Street I and II, the former being a 26er and the "II" having 700c wheels. Both are listed as "cross sport" bikes, but the II definitely fits the bill a little better. Wouldn't be surprised if it was a full on mountain bike for a different year though.

Is the Specialized Rock Combo that I mentioned upthread being excluded because it's a reverse hybrid (drop bars and 26" MTB tires)?

Hi Trak, I thought I'd leave it out due to the 26" wheelsize. I was trying to limit the thread to 700c based hybrids. They seem to be most populace size in the hybrid category.

Speaking of weird, the very first hybrid I am aware of was pictured in a what-will-they-think-of-next sidebar in the early '80s, in either Bicycling! or Bicycle Guide. Some guy had installed a rigid MTB fork and flat bars on a sport touring bike and was using it off-road.
The bike had a big 26" knobby tire in front. The rear was the original 27" or 700c wheel and a tire with as much in the way of knobs as would have been available then, I believe. I was inspired by that to buy a similar bike at the Schwinn dealership where I worked at the time. I outfitted that bike with flat bars and a pair of tubular wheels to which I glued Barum cyclocross tires.
Used that off-road for a few years. Fun bike. (Lost it when I absentmindedly left it on my car's bike rack overnight. Came out in the morning to find it gone and a Huffy cruiser left in my driveway.)

1994 Univega Via De Oro Info
This looks to be from a Univega catalog. I do not remember where I got this from but I downloaded it as the Via in the picture is the same model and paint scheme as mine which is a 1994 model. Sorry this is the best resolution pic I have.
