Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Probably. Although I wonder which is the worst feeling . . . . A) The rage you feel when you realize some low-life-son-of-a-beech violated your personal belongings, or B) The utter agony of knowing you've got nobody to blame but your own dumb azz.

Got on the trainer for a little bit of sweet spot and hit my best 60 min power since 2022. There is going to have to be a reevaluation.

My Euro-dad used to walk into a dealership and pay whatever they asked. He was an otherwise frugal man; just couldn’t be bothered.

“People” do say that sometimes. My CTL is also the lowest it’s been since last winter.

Indeed. Thumbs up on the CTL too. Rest, recovery and regeneration isn't a bad thing. Have you estimated the weights into the equation at all?

We just bought a car. A handful of emails and a couple of phone calls got me over $5k off (about 7.5%) before we ever went to the dealership. I don't make that much per hour.

The Canyon is the only bike I ever paid sticker for, but Canyons are cheap for the value, so.....

At least I stayed lean. Cut back on my afternoon snack and lunch/dinner portions, rarely dessert. At music night a couple week's ago, a friend's SO gave me a hard time for not having a full portion of the desert she made. "Aren't you like super active?" she goes, knowing full well I just had surgery. I told her I didn't want to have a bunch of weight to lose once I started cycling again. My diet scales with my activity level.

I remember our pediatrician told us that babies are smart when it comes to food, and adults are weird. We eat for all sorts of reasons, some being social or emotional. Babies eat when they are hungry, and stop when they are not.
