Cyclocross and Gravelbiking (Recreational) This has to be the most physically intense sport ever invented. It's high speed bicycle racing on a short off road course or riding the off pavement rides on gravel like : "Unbound Gravel". We also have a dedicated Racing forum for the Cyclocross Hard Core Racers.

Schwinn Sporterra CE

Anyone own one of these? The blue version looks pretty nice for a budget bike at $799

This is on the very low-low end. If you can stretch your budget up to $1029 the entry level Salsa Journeyer is a huge jump up in quality for $200 more. You would easily spend that much more at a bike shop to fixing all of the little things that could be wrong with this bike. Warped rotors, spongy brakes, misaligned derailleurs, sloppy shifting or ghost shifting, wheel truing, kinked cable housing, galvanized steel cables, etc. all are common problems that may need to be corrected on bikes in this price range. Even upgrading to a set of acceptable tires could cost you $100. The $200 in "savings" on a bike like this often do not really translate into any real savings.

Schwinn was a decent quality bike back in the 70s but has been through a few ownership changes over time and is now more of a cheap discount store brand than the quality brand it once was.
