These aero bars came on a bike I bought a few years back. What is the small cylindrical device attached to it (2nd photo)? Thanks!

I've also seen them mounted at the tip of the bar as a thumb rest

It was to mount a little bar computer/HR monitor etc.
Reminds of a funny story. I had an HR monitor that was either defective, or I needed to see a doctor. It would go from like 48 to 230+ (I'm going with defective!)

I have an elliptical trainer with a heart rate monitor that used palm grips to measure heart rate. It would do the same thing. I am the type of personality that if a device fails intermittently, then all the data is worthless. It becomes distracting so I disconnected it.

I had those Aerobars decades ago and liked how the pads swung up to give you access to the bar tops. The ones I had weren’t adjustable other than length but came in handy on centuries and doubles.
Bought a pair of bars which are not joined, but even with risers, they don’t provide the bar top access of yours.
