Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Beautiful bike. The couplers start to matter when you start putting it in the travel case. If you have a good set of bicycle cables cutter they are not difficult to install. If you don't, you need to leave the job for someone who does.

The Ritchey couplers are just plain smart mechanical design. I also have Thomson posts on both of mine.

15 miles shy of 6000 for the year, and 314,000 feet of climbing. BUT this is BOTH IRL and ITG. I need to copy the last few weeks of rides, paste them in Excel, and do a little fiddling...

IRL = 4758 miles, 260602 feet. I doubt I will get to 5000 real world miles by the end of the year, though it's not impossible.

Funny, yesterday on the ride one of them mentioned something about their sister's ex-husband and I tried to sing Tom Petty' "Yer so bad". None of them knew the song.
Mrs John doesn't know it either. Have they all led sheltered lives?

It's about 10k per week which is doable in 2 rides. Actually doable in 1. My friend who has done over 600 every year used to get all of his climbing in 3 rides per week.

i can’t decide what i’d find most doable, but probably 3 at 3k plus the occasional “extra” flattish back to back day. my 2-4k rides aren’t really ones i can fit into a weekday though, in an hour and a half i’m looking at 2k max.

I’m at 5800 miles with 217k climbing so far- not really enough, I’m going to shoot for 450k next year.

1500 if those miles are trainer road w. 0 elevation, if I were doing Zwift it would probably add 75k

I talked to my wife last night about ordering the 12s di2- she said since it was $1,999 it was under the notification threshold and so I didn’t even need to ask. I think it’s a trap

QFT

Luckily, one daughter is already off the payroll, and daughter #2 is a Junior so only 1.5 more cars to buy/burn.

I havnt taken it apart since I bought it 2 years ago. Or maybe 3 years ago. I can’t remember, bought it in Columbus Ohio, flew out to pick it up and had the owner teach me how to put in the bag and flew it home.

I thought I would have been bringing it to work all the time with me, but realistically the 737 would be more of a hassle, and commuting doesn’t help the situation.

June I am hoping to be DCA based, and i’ll be flying the Bus, which is super roomy, so The Ritchey should start going with me all the time.

Hopefully I’ll start riding with more of you guys. San Fran overnights with Genejocky, LAX with bigjohn. I shouldn’t lose MsP or PHX I don’t think.

Maybe even make it to where cypress lives. Not sure if he still post here.

I think it’s on sale for less at Merlin.

Man I wish I had 1,999 number threshold. An emonda would be sitting where my Creakvelo sits.

Also, Zipps would be where superteams sit.

1,999 is this a one time thing, or can you make like 7 purchases at 1,999, as long as they are separated you don’t have to notify?
