The 105 (55xx series) and the Ultegra (65xx series) are very very similar, just finish and slight weight difference. Many bikes back in that era mixed the parts as standard equipment on some models to meet a lower price point.

Just be sure that the shifters that you're looking at have hoods and front trim caps that meet your level of expectations. As mentioned above, some of these small parts are scarce/expensive since they haven't been made for years.

yes for sure, the set has them and even the flight deck computer which i have no idea how it works....

Friction shift downtube or bar-end shifters will work. (somebody yelling out an open window at the Senior Center)
