Stem Length
I am currently building my first cross bike. My road bike is a 58cm seat tube with a 57.7 cm top tube and a 120 mm stem. The cross bike frame I purchase has a seat tube of 56 cm and a top tube of 56.5 cm. Should I go to a 130 mmm stem to come closer to my road bike? Any suggestions.
Thanks

I ride a 58cm frame, but with a slightly shorter stem length than on my road bike (110 on my cross & 120 on my road bike). Personaly, I find that it gives a bit more control, aerodynamics not being my main concern off road. It also enables me to put more weight over the back wheel when descending (positioned the saddle a little further back too). I would err on the side of being less 'stretched' out than on the road, but it's such a personal thing if you can experiment with different lengths of stem, that would be favourite (if possible)
Happy riding,
