Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I don't know if the plugs have been replaced, it's at 118k and scheduled replacement is 90k. This afternoon I'm planning on popping the intake manifold off and poking around & checking connections & plugs. I have an injector and plugs and may pick up a coil just in case. Any thoughts on even messing around with the coil pack when it seems the 202 specifically indicates an injector issue?
Is it actually misfiring? All the time or only under a load? Does it idle smooth or does it idle with a miss?
If it's a P0202 it's probably not a coil or spark plug. Take the connector off the injector and see if it's corroded. Before you do that, wiggle it around while idling and see if it starts/stops misfiring.
You could check the resistance of the injector and compare it to the others. You could also switch the injector with another cylinder and see if the misfire follows the injector.
If it's misfiring all the time you could check the circuit with a test light, should be blinking at a idle. If it's intermittent it could be the injector, the wiring, or the computer.

P0202 is an injector circuit fault, so chasing that by installing a coil won't help that fault. Of course, that's on the back bank, middle, so likely the most difficult of all to get to. For the layman, a wiggle test on the connector itself, if it's possible to get to. A tech worth anything would use an oscilloscope and a current probe, pull the injector fuse, install a fused jumper, and get a pattern.

On that note, I had an eye exam last week, and they said it looks good. Next appointment in four months. If it goes a year without needing an injection, I’m good to go. But the next cataract surgery is lurking. With one eye done, I can clearly watch the progression of the other.

Definitely a misfire, rough idle but doesn't die. The thing that makes it especially fun is that it only misfires on cold start. If the engine warms up and it's driven a little bit then left to sit everything is happy and no DTC codes thrown.

Thanks, I grabbed a coil just in case but I'll be more than happy to return it. I've got to do this in my driveway tonight so my wife can get to work the rest of the week, so hopefully a new injector fixes it. I'll clean all contacts on the injectors and take a look at the harness assembly since I've got to take the whole damn thing apart anyways. Why does it always have to be the hardest one to get to?

We had a problem with the direct injectors on Chevy trucks starting in 2016. Misfire a little when cold, then fine the rest of the day. No way to test them, just put one in. Yours is the old style, I'm sure. Blow the dirt out of the bore before lifting the fuel rail, put a little WD-40 in there. Lube the o rings with clean engine oil before installing. Hopefully the other o rings are ok.

That's how life in the bay works.

The upside is it's not a cat damaging misfire.

I was careful not to go more than three paragraphs in my diag/explanation. I didn't want anyone to go cross-eyed whilst reading any of it.

Nice ride out there today. Tightened the brakes on my TT rig which helped a lot in getting down to the island. I think the pad compound is super soft - gotta switch back to Reynold blue.

Ran into a teammate and fellow TTT participant. We rode 20' side by side chatting, mostly in aero. He had to leave and I felt good so I did another 10' into z4, one notch below ITT race pace. Got home without incident.

Next week it will be time to put some actual efforts in on this thing!

If it is there's probably a lot of "athletes" who cross-train with fat bike riding.

Aren't the twenty foot and ten foot efforts enough?

Gotta get some efforts in the 40-60 feet range, and I also gotta do them a lot harder

Day 1 of a 7 day trip. Today already sucked, and just got bad news. Still time for that news to turn around but doesn’t look good.

I did find a power meter in Austin for 215.00. Ultegra stages, will work with my GRX. Price is good, description is new in the box, I guess I am just a little leary. Can’t test it, and worries it could be a lemon.
