Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Got a project back from powdercoat earlier this week, going to do some facing & chasing plus some general cleanup this weekend and hopefully have it built up by next week. Here's a few teasers

(I need to figure out how to touch up the discoloration around the seatstay vent holes, I didn't get the frame as free of framesaver as I thought I did before it went in the oven )

Why thank you!

Posted a bit more about it over in C&V.\

Full build is as follows:

32 hole Origin8 SS1101 hubs, DT competition spokes, TB14 rims. Michelin Power Road 28mm tires I retired from my road bike.
First generation Stronglight 93 pista crankset with 3/32" 48 tooth ring
Shimano UN55 BB
3/32" 17t Origin8 cog (that's apparently out of round so I'll be replacing it with something a bit nicer at some point)
KMC 12 speed chain
Tange Falcon headset
Velo Orange fillet brazed stem & temple bell
Soma HWY1 bars
Cane Creek SCR5 levers
Dia-Compe 400 brakes with pads that desperately need replacing
No-name seatpost
Fabric Scoop Shallow saddle
Zipp Service Course tape

All in about 20.5lbs with Speedplays and a K-edge computer mount.

Ah! Is that the one that was formerly white? It looks good. I appreciate the addition of the road fork. I'm considering the same for two of my bikes to make them a bit more useable on the road.

It looks great. Keep shredding!

No one had any recommendations in my thread on finding a set of 650c track wheels other than build them, so here they are.

Picked the hubs up off aliexpress, rims from the LBS, pillar spokes and wheel fanatyk nipples. Now I just need to find a decent set of tires to go with them. Hubs are cartridge bearing and feel much smoother than I expected for the price and feel solid.

Latest update - moved back to the city so had front wheel rebuilt for a brake (reusing Phil hub with HED Belgium rim + SimWorks by Hoshi Peregrine spokes); ditched the Tyreinvader anti-pinch-flat insert and swapped Roubaix 700Cx32 for Rene Herse's new Orondo Grade 700Cx31 (++Rew10 Works hex brass presta valve cap for no gd reason at all); also swapping Brooks C17 saddle and Rindow Tarugata grips for a Fizik Tempo Aliante R3 with DMR DeathGrip Brendog flanged grips (always loved the Aliante on my original fg conversion Peugeot, and the platform pedals on this one are DMR Vault Brendog heh); and finished off with SimWorks / Nissen stainless outer brake cable + Paul Comp's polished Canti Lever, Racer Medium, and Funky Monkey Hanger...

RIP, All-City T_T

Why no pictures of the bike from the proper side? the Non-drive side is so boring and plain we want to see that driveside baby!

All Phil drivetrain and you kept it hidden???? HOW DARE YOU! It isn't posing influencer B.S. when you have an all Phil drivetrain that is just a sexy photo without trying. It is like if you started playing Sweet Caroline for a bunch of Bostonians and got rid of the intro and the "Sweet Caroline Bah bah baah" part and started somewhere in the middle. How could you?...LOLOLOL!

Came across this Look locally on Facebook during the pandemic and jumped on it thinking it's an awesome frame. Sat in storage for awhile.

Been growing on me and deciding to keep it. Also have a Samson, 3Rensho, and a few others and feel like the Look's Tange #2 is a bit beefier steel for every day riding.

Excited to put some miles on this summer.
