I was hoping to have a crack at the 3 peaks this year, but just never got around to doing it.
They cancelled it last year due to foot and mouth, but it does look like a pig of a race!!!

Rode this year (& most years). Really is a great race to ride, most riders I know, who have done it, either ride it once, vowing never to return, or, like myself (and brother) become serial 3 peakers! Great atmosphere, the main abilities required are to be able to walk very fast up steep slopes (running would be nice but not essential/possible), and to be able to put your brain in your back pocket when the downhill beckons.
Come on over and stay in a Youth Hostel.
The site below (isn't mine) has pics & QT's of this years

Ps, don't worry about bringing beer, the race finishes in the pub's garden - 'Black Sheep' bitter all round

Looks like the weather was nice this year, those trails look like perfect cross fodder.

Very dusty, lots of punctures, luckily no mishaps myself. The winner (Robb Jebb) broke the course record. (I finished around 60th having broken my own time) I thought that I was going pretty fast on the descents, until at one point I was overtaken by a guy on two flat tyres!

Hey Dan,
Welcome to the forums I noticed there are lots of Cross bikes in the pictures and video...did you notice many MTB's competing?
60th sounds fantastic....I'd be pleased to place in the top 100!

No mtbs, not allowed for various reasons, one being that it's a UK cat A race so follows UCI rulings (you know, no bar-ends, no tyres over 35mm, no pushing at the back, that sort of thing). I must admit to being a bit dissapointed at first (61st), which is probably a good thing, next year, along with you lot?, I shall do better.

That's a shame, I got rid of my Alan Top Cross a few months back...hmmm, maybe I could cunningly disguise my MTB with drop bars...hmmm, maybe not....it's been done before!!
