Living car-free got me a date!

I moved to a walkable neighborhood over a year ago as part of my car-free lifestyle. I've been actually-car-free for less than two months.

I walked down to a local pub for food and beer yesterday, and ended up chatting with a woman who was there. She lives two blocks away, and walks to local places also. She's not car-free, but had I stayed out in the 'burbs, I probably wouldn't have been able to meet someone in this manner.

We stayed together at the pub for hours then I walked her home. I was a gentleman and went directly home from there.

We're probably getting together again on New Years Eve, and she's expressed interest riding on the back of my Big Dummy.

Nice nice.

I am definitely on the receiving end of more flirting when I'm biking or walking, rather than driving. Maybe that sounds obvious, but clerks or other customers often comment or discuss my transit if they see me arriving to a location on bike or foot, but never with a car.

But funny things happen when girls from Detroit move to Portland.

I don't believe the OP. Everyone knows that all women are only interested in money and cars. I think he should provide proof to the LCF community. Pics of your date or it didn't happen.

Well see, there are more perks to this bike commuting thing than just having more money, being happier, and healthier.
Hope your date goes well!

I am 40 years old, but far from a virgin... I've been married twice. (I've never seen the movie you are referring to).

I didn't have a camera with me. We did spend another 2.5 days together, including New Years Eve. She's an independent woman with her own home, a grown daughter, and a cute dog. Perfect, because I'm not looking to live together. She doesn't own a bicycle, but she's open minded about my lifestyle. She really is a wonderful woman.
