Recently snapped up a mid-1980s Bianchi Sport SX road bike....Anyone out there know the brand of wheels it wore new from bike shop? Trying to gather lists of nomenclature for it but an uphill trek. Perhaps it wore black color anodized rims? They were so popular then.

Dumped in the woods - 2011 REI Novara Fiona... Blow out on back tire. Bent rear derailleur. Chain stuck between dork disk and cassette. Bars tilted. Could be he figured not worth the trouble. Or he took it to REI and they told him he needed a set of tires, wheel truing, rear derailleur, and derailleur hanger... About 200 USD... Ha
Looks like its had very light use. I took a hammer to the derailleur hanger and I think that's all it needs. Waiting on tires now...

madpogue, I recently found my 1987 Bianchi Sport SX with Araya 700c in (what I would call) dark bronze anodized rims. See my post in this thread from 8-14-22, # 14801 w/ photos and description. BTW don't readily recall where I found the catalog but a thorough search should find it.

"Save it from the dump" , that's what the owner told me . Bike was a Cannondale SR300 , I received frame and fork only . Both in nasty shape but no dents , built it up with most parts on hand . The track forks (drop outs) and 120mm spacing were the fun part . What made it doable for me , I found a welder close by that charged reasonable . For the track forks I did some cut outs around the radius where the axle sat so I did not disturb the original geometry . I have a C&V mini lathe with a milling attachment so making the "forks" was doable . Next was to make some hacksaw cuts to the seat and chain stays , they folded together perfect on a 120 mm spacer. The paint is Krylon Blue Foil , decals by VeloCals . Like I said most everything was in my BOC so down the line I want to change a few things , namely the wheels I think all black will look better . Here it is my Cannondale "track" . (not really a track) .

Love it. To me it also has a really cool velocipede vibe. A bulb horn and brass lantern wouldn’t look out of place. Great looking paint, too.

Picked up a free set of VO Porteurs that had a stripped bolt on the grip. Three minutes with a hacksaw and we’re good to go!

Recently snapped up a mid-1980s Bianchi Sport SX road bike for reasonable cost. Fellow who owns an auto body shop just off Davis Square, Somerville showed me a complete bike minus wheels and chain from house next door whose owner passed away; vacating home turned up the forgotten Bianchi in the cellar, said he. Decent condition and looks all original; paint has very few small chips but steel parts show surface rust from cellar.
Anyone out there know the brand of wheels it wore new from bike shop? Trying to gather lists of nomenclature for it but an uphill trek. Perhaps it wore black color anodized rims? They were so popular then.

Drove 200 miles round trip yesterday to harvest this:
I believe it to be a 1997 KHS Summit X, although there is nothing denoting it as an "X" model. I suspect the rigid forked version was just the Summit, while the suspension forked version was the "X". Not a lot of info about KHS out there, so I'm just guessing. Don't know what I'll do with it; maybe make it next years' clunker challenge bike? The price was definitely worth the drive. As found condition, but I think it will clean up nicely.

Was in pretty useable shape, so after a complete tear-down, deep cleaning, re-cabling, and some new brake levers, it's all good to go on to a different friend for his Toronto commutes. A new life for this unlabeled mystery ride

I tried to ignore this one at a local church sale down the street but a lady there recognized me as the "bike guy" and insisted to all friends that I could make it like new. So for a $10 donation, I have a "Made in Canada" Pro Tour 400. It actually is a usable bike but I did not need another right now. An all steel beauty? It must have been made for some store, maybe Woolco or Zellers?

Kind of random scrap yard stuff, but this should work to hold up the milling machine table I picked before the pandemic. Cause I'm going to build bikes when I grow up...
