Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I started getting shin splints (splits?) In my late 20s. Used to run a lot. Slipped and broke my ankle requiring a plate and 11 screws. Tried to come back 2 years later. The ankle isn't happy, the splints came back. Thus, running is dumb.

And, FWIW, I didn't get up at 5:30 to pull some espresso shots... I got up at 5:15.

As far as hotel coffee... any port in a storm, amiright?

If you're just going to drive them once in a while it's not a problem. If you're going to make certain old cars into a daily driver you can have hardened valve seats put in. The issue is called valve recession. Without the lead to cushion things the valves tend to pound the seats until they start leaking.

He also has a friend with a diesel pick up and a car trailer and sometimes they buy a car together and go get it.
That wouldn't work for me. I almost lost it while waiting less than two weeks for the Litespeed.

I totally procrastinated buying the tent I wanted from Dick's and it went up $15 Oh well, I think I'd prefer a 2-man tent that weighs about the same (3 pounds or so) and doesn't cost too much.

Just ordered my race team kit. Officially Stoked.
Next crit is May 1st.

This morning the Madone dropped the chain. Shifting from the big chain ring to the little ring. The piece that is suppose to prevent the chain from dropping, prevented me from putting the chain back on. There wasn’t enough room between the piece and the small chain ring for the width of the chain. I ended up taking it apart in order to get the chain back on. Hopefully it won’t drop again anytime soon.

My ride from today isn’t showing up on intervals. Never had that happen before and not really sure what to do about it.

Hope y’all are all well. Just been super busy the past week. Have to go back to work tomorrow.

Do you know whether the chain catcher pivots? Mine does. I’d imagine they are the same.

It pivots but in order for me to get the chain back on I had to remove it completely.

Went here again. Too windy for a road ride.

That trail ends at a debris basin. There are a couple of them on these trails and you can climb around them but today I didn't.

There are other trails that go over the ridge but they involve pushing which I wasn't doing today.
There is a trail in those bushes that goes over to the next canyon.

I took the easy way out.

My son is looking for a summer place in Dallas while he’s interning. Came across an AirBNB that is a camping tent in a back yard. $800/month.
