Seagull Century Weather Projection

According to weather.com, it'll be partly cloudy with a high of 74 degrees in Salisbury on October 4.

Fingers crossed.

Fingers, legs and eyes crossed. That would be nothing less than perfect. Well maybe 2 mph winds but that would be asking too much.

It's looking a lot like last year. But even better, a bit cooler.

Well, looks like the status on weather.com just changed to 75 degrees and sunny. Hope it stays that way!

Also, "Sea Gull" is two words...I don't know how to edit a thread's subject line though. If any of you do, please let me know...my inner grammar cop will be grateful.

It would seem that the tropical storm which normally would have come for the Seagull is a week early. What a bargain.

I get hesitant to believe a forecast 10 days out, but now that we are only 3 days out; I have a lot more confidence. After some of the horror stories that I have heard about this ride (rain & wind); it definitely looks like it is shaping up to be a beautiful day for a bikeride.

P.S. - If I just cursed this; I am sure I will never hear the end of it.

I can't believe every time I look at the forecast it actually gets better. We're now down to 0% chance of rain and 5mph wind!

Their already talking about 6,000 registered riders then add in same dayers and it might be 7,000. I'm sure from the start to the first rest stop it will be like riding in one of those bumper car rides.

Yeah I checked today and it got a little warmer to. I got the parking email explaining that hole deal, seems like it might turn out to be a mess.

I am some what hesitent to start to early cause I figure everyone is going to start then. Might come at around 6:30 and then chill for an hour maybe to get around so of the crowds leaving at 7.

That might not be a bad idea for a first timer. Get a good parking space then have a big breakfast at the university. I never did the breakfast thing but I think it's about $4. I do eat dinner there, I find it easier than to have to find a place. It's actually pretty good.

I gotta imagine with 6000+ people there will be lots of crowds leaving all morning

However, I think it will be fun to arrive a little early & see all the people & the festivities. This is by far the largest group ride I have done by a lot; so I think it will be really cool.

I've never left after 7:45 or so, but the crowd at the start is nonstop. Everyone leaves the university by going under Rt13 in this tunnel:

At most, you can go through it two wide, so the queue to enter it is big (but moves along nicely.)
After that, the morning roads of Delmarva are quiet and the pace is relaxed until after the metric/ century split, about 8 miles from the start. Then the pacelines begin to form, but the road is still filled with riders. All the major road crossings are manned by police who try to always give the right of way to cyclists.

Bring your fall gear- it's been chilly here in the morning and Saturday looks like it'll be more of the same.

Very chilly here this morning (I live about a mile south of the university) and light fog that burned off right as the sun came up. Once you get warmed up on the ride, it should be excellent!
