'75 Paramount repaint
Inspired by my older brother's '70 Fastback he bought new way back when, and supplemented with inspiration from Pastor Bob, Bob Freeman and others, I decided to repaint my poorly repainted Opaque Red '75 Paramount in Flamboyant Red. The frame and chrome is in excellent condition, and it was well executed IMO by a local fellow who has done a couple other repaints for me, including my '79 Raleigh Team 753...

Wow. Reds are low on my personal favorite bicycle colors, but when done right they can really shoot to the top. This is one of them. Stunning.

Wow, that's a fantastic paint job. Color, detail, masking, everything. Beautiful! Do you know how the painter masked the lugs? Just careful tape, or one of those liquid barriers (like "liquid glove")?

Bands separating the chrome from the color work but are a bit wide to my recall.
the luminosity of the color presents very well.
Schwinn multistage paint is very hard to replicate.

Thanks, he is pretty old school, so just used tape. He does a great job - his day job is building high end tandems here in Colorado (Davinci) and they have some pretty wild paint jobs. He paints a few vintage frames on the side, mostly just because he really likes the old stuff...

I tend to agree on the separation bands. I did a little research on that, and found a lot of variation, so I told him to just do what he thought worked...

Sweet Paramount
I used to do vintage car restorations including paint, and the work on your frame is lovely. It takes lots of talent to get the metallic just right, and to have the paint flow out that nicely particularly with tubing.

Different from your green one, yes? This one looks a slightly smaller frame size. Same guy that painted your purple Ciocc?
Stunner, btw.

Yes indeed. I'm going to keep the green one original paint. This one has a smaller frame, but still in my range. And yes, same guy who painted the Ciocc, he does great work

Wow, the chrome against the metallic red is stunning! I love chromed lugs, and someday I'll have a frame with them, so I'm always closely looking at how a paint color looks with chrome lugs. Sometimes I have to wonder why bother with chromed lugs if you're going to use insert-boring-color-like......beige for the paint? There are blues that really look nice w/chrome, Celeste is kinda cool, black works, but that red...... wow.

It's... it's... it's indescribably beautiful! It reminds me of the Fourth of July!

Wow is right. Just remarkable, and the decals look great as well. I assume he applied clear over the decals? It is nice to see quality bicycles well cared for! And loved!

Finally got around to building up the Paramount, hope to ride it once the weather starts to clear up around here....
Most of the parts are original to the bike, the rest are period correct. Original derailleurs and crank, dated '73 although the bike is a '75. My understanding is that Schwinn was using up a large cache of Campy parts they bought back in '73...
Need to trim back the cables a bit...
Non original Team Pro
"Schwinn Approved" Weinmanns...
Old logo Cinelli stem and bars
Pedals not original to the bike, but I believe the black superleggeros were spec'ed this year
So called "mistake" double drilled hubs, original to the bike
April 1975 number
