Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Please bare with me - WTH are these for?

Just upgraded to a 2024 SL8 Roubaix. Has the typical two bottle cage mounts, and a 3rd under the down tube. Seen that all before, no issues.

NOW. It also has two screws on the top of the top tube. I've never seen anything that could go there, not that I've seen it all, I'm sure. I bottle cage wouldn't work, the bottle would be blocked by the head set. Not a top tube bag guy, but I've seen those and the ones I've seen strap onto the frame, not bolt. I saw the Apple Airtag holders that bolt on, but I'm not an apple guy, plus being so obvious would kind of defeat the purpose, no? Does anyone have a use for these? I'm I just missing something obvious?

Ain't no way that I'm baring with you, but those are for a bolt on top tube bag.

Thank you, I've never seen bolt on bags, but like I said, I'm not a top tube bag guy so I wasn't looking hard. Even that link you provided, it looked like 99% were straps.

Extra mounting points for more options! That's great.

Anything other than a top tube bag you can think of that could go there?

I've never seen anything besides a bolt-on top tube bag being used, but I guess you could mount a rear racing bottle cage if you really wanted.

I have an XLab Pocket 200 on my Checkpoint. It's super handy. Like below (not my bike).

The Revelate MagTank 2000 is a bolt on top tube bag. My Cannondale Topstone came with TT bolts, the Revelate is wonderful. It never flops to one side, is tapered near the back so your knees don’t hit it and it has a really terrific clasp to keep it shut, it was worth the $60. I love TT bags.

I'm sure this is an industry-standard set of mounting bolts/distance, right?. Look for phone case holders soon :-) Or why not other accessory holders -- minipump bracket, umbrella case, BT speaker, Kryptolock holder, windvane etc?

I have seen top tube mounts refer to as bento box mounts, but since I barely have the skills to take a sip from my down tube bottle while riding -- forget it if it is the seat tube bottle -- I giggle uncontrollably when I imagine myself eating a real Japanese multi-course, dual-level bento box lunch while riding. I would probably crash and impale myself with a chopstick.

I laughed, but that's not so far off of what you might find in a triangle shaped frame bag around here.

At least this solves the problem of not having enough room on the handlebar to mount lights. Bonus points for connecting this to the Di2 blips.
