For Father’s Day I received a pair of adidas 510 sleuth dlx biking shoes. I used them exactly once so far. They seem to be a great improvement over the various worn out sneakers I usually ride, and they match my non professional look. It was strange however not feeling the metal of the clips in my toes, and of the pedals in my feet after a few miles. I think I will like them a lot.

All my track and racing bikes have SPD pedals. I have two bikes with clips so I can wear whatever shoes I want - if I bike to work, the store - wherever I don't have to carry my shoes. Pedals with a flat, smooth surface help. I understand if people want to go the vintage route and use bike shoes with clips. I have found that steel clips can cut into the tops of leather shoes - another reason I prefer SPDs!

We've had this in the last few weeks. I have pretty strong feelings/opinions about this on C+V. I know many here are fans of modern clipless and I get it. That being said, I can't ride them for having a crooked ankle and can't stand the looks on C+V.
Just my deal.
Here's what I have.
Proper pedals, clips and straps IMO, dual gate for more stability.
I took some oldschool shoes and had protective soles and heels added and they work very well.
I also have a pair of Nike Reax 3 tr's and Bontrager Podium shoes that work very well.

Remember, not cheap and you may have to find a guy that wants to do it but well worth it if your shoes are in ok to good shape.
