You Know!? For Kids!
dremel tool with a cut off disc. slices through housing and cable like butter. Keep a section of old housing to slide over cable to make cutting easier. Tends to cut better if you cut housing and cable all at once.

if you want to use wire cutters, use some SHARP ones. dull, old wire cutter will just fray the cable.
