I know this is a personal preference, but I am just curious.

I just got a pair of ergons for my curve d3, and half way through the ride I took my gloves off. I like how sticky the grips are and I felt I could grab the bar ends better without the padding. I can't remember the last time I spent the majority of my ride on the bars and not the bar ends, but those grips are really comfortable. I see what all the fuss is about now.

So the only reason I can see for wearing bike gloves is if you go down and not want to rip your bare palms up. But I'm not a fatalist, so I don't think that should be the issue. And no, I don't use them to wipe my nose either!

Anyone give up gloves once you put these grips on?

I don't tend to wear gloves on my Tikit [with Ergons] unless it's cold out. My Tikit is a bike I just grab and go without using any biking specific clothing. They are quite comfortable without extra padding.

I would wear gloves with Ergons if I was planning on riding long distances [50-100kms]. I think I would appreciate the extra padding under those circumstances, but my Tikit doesn't see any long distance rides.

I also have the Curve D3 with Ergon grips and I still use very padded gloves with them.

I don't know if it's my body shape or the geomentry of the bike but I put alot of pressure on my wrists and palms. Lowering my seat helps, but of course then my legs ache.

The Ergon's do give a noticable affect to the comfort level though.

Last year I started wearing off road gloves instead of road gloves on the advice of a fellow cyclist and haven't gone back. I just put Ergons on the hardtail and the combo is nice and sticky. Some wise*** on in MTB called them "old man grips" but I really like 'em, whether or not I'm old.

If you want full fingered gloves, you can get some really good ones on chainlove.com, just DL their desktop alert.

here also (ergon) gloves with ergon grips but its more a "feel saver" than "feel more comfortable" thing.

Ergons are good, but not THAT good. Unless I'm running errands, I always use gloves.

I only wear gloves with Ergons if the ride is more than a few miles.

I have Ergons on both the Curve and P24 and of late, I've been riding without the gloves too. Only the fear of palm damage from a fall keeps me gloved now.

On longer rides, gloves do help a bit to supplement the Ergons, I feel.

I wear gloves no matter what. I'm a PC Tech and my hands and my head are my living so I can't afford to contend with lacerated palms if I fall.

I wear gloves, but my rides are usually to and from bike polo, hitting fences, the ground etc. are pretty common. I like the ergon grips, gives the bars more surface area and easier to hang onto.
