Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I wouldn’t spend 1500.00 on this. If I could get my hands on a frame for cheap It would become a project. The one in the race was solid gold. I should have taken a picture.

I'm pretty sure those are not legal for use in UCI competition. I vaguely remember talk about that back in the day thats why no one make them anymore.

But, they were quite the contraption for sure.

I was the only one from my team in the Cat 4/5 race. Seemed like everyone else there was on a team and they were all working well together. The front kept slowing way down on the back stretch, I took the bait twice and took the front. Everyone hung back let me blow myself up. By the last lap I didn’t have anything left for a sprint. Pretty disappointed, but I did have fun. Just wish I knew better.
That's a very positive first race report. Congratulations!

Interesting.

I wondered how this handles over bumps, or if I could be used on smooth roads.

The teams were packed together which didn’t really leave me anywhere to go. I was either in the back or the lead there was no really in between. Need to get some pointers from LAJ about dealing with people who purposely try to take out your front wheel.

It depends how aggressive you choose to be. If you aren't afraid of throwing elbows, then you just ride as close to the person behind the wheel you want as makes them uncomfortable, and just take that wheel. If the wheel you want moves to the left, and you're on the left, you don't move. and the wheel instantly becomes yours. That also means less than a foot off that wheel ahead. If it moves right, you move towards the rider if he's on your right because he's expected to move. It's a game of chicken. Elbows and shoulders.

My Mom's family all pronounce tyre like tar. And tower sounds like tar also. Context is required if anyone from Danese, WV uses one of those three words.

Fish is pronounced "feesh"

They come up for sale occasionally in the C&V forum. There was one there recently.

My Dad grew up in Pittsburgh, and he had a few 'Pittsburghisms' in his speech, like pronouncing "Iron" as "Arn", or "Wash" as "Warsh". He didn't use "Yinz", though.

I spent a good part of my adult life in the northern reaches of Appalachia. Feesh it is. Tar. It matches up pretty well with its neighbors to the South.
