Massive C&V parts/bikes/inventory selloff at Velo Classique
Paid a visit to my friend Wayne Bingham at Velo Classique in Purcelleville, VA yesterday. Long discussion about impending location changes, etc. but won't go into details here.
Long story short is he's got an amazing inventory of classic/vintage bikes, parts, rims, etc. that is being sold off at (in his words) 'fire sale prices'.
We're talking about really nice, often really unusual bikes and components- I saw a handful of new Stronglight cranks, maybe a dozen pairs of CLB lightweight calipers, a box of Simplex FD's...you get the picture.
If you are anywhere in the area, strongly suggest that you go by and look through the shop. If not local, give him a call to see if he has what you need.

Will seller post any photos/lists of what he is selling anywhere? FB, CL, etc. Would be nice to see what he has rather than just random inquiries

Hate to write this but probably why this dealer has such a stock pile of vintage parts is partly because the seller never got with modern media and created a website with pictures, listings, shopping cart, etc. Can even use other sites like ebay, FB, CL, .... So good for all the locals who can snatch up bits at 'fire sale prices' but not good for this seller.

Was this not the home of the $800 Ironman?
That may have been in Maryland. (And Budget Bike Center in Madison, WI)
Of course, asking prices vary. Life is negotiable.
May be some good stuff for light lettuce.
Glad it's posted up for those interested.

Yeah, I debated whether or not to post about this. Wayne has a Facebook page but not sure how often it gets updated with anything other than major events like his warehouse sales. And he can be a bit behind when it comes to communication. But whenever I’ve needed something truly unusual, he’s been there for me. Thankfully he’s local to me, so easier for me to effectuate an inquiry and purchase.
Would not expect him to post an inventory, pictures, etc. Not sure even he knows everything he’s got other than the new parts and tools for which he is a distributor (and which is also his primary business).
The bikes he has for sale are remarkable and worth the asking, I will say that. And I’ve purchased at least one complete bike from him over the years. BB4, believe you are thinking about Larry Black’s operation up in MD.
He’s a good guy. He’s just…kinda like us but with more stuff.

Very interesting, and very hard to get to (from MD suburbs to VA suburbs might as well be another planet; even more with White's Ferry closed so no "back route").

This thread is just a tease.
Can the seller not even type a list and post it here?

It's an opportunity.
It's a PSA.
I've met Wayne Bingham.
He doesn't have to sell anything.
But if he does, that's good.
As far as teases.... I met this lady, riding up Thunder Ridge.
She told me I was cute.
Tease or not, it was worth 1 mph for at least 5 minutes.
In Southern Cal, you have the weather.
This side of the island, we take what we can get.
Even teases.

If Wayne shuts down, it’ll be a real loss. Very knowledgeable and friendly, even when you’re just poking around dreaming. Nicest bunch of bikes and parts in a any small space that I’ve ever seen. Everything else is a chain store with China bikes. It’d be nice if Wayne could relocate, but I totally empathize if he calls it a day and goes fishin’.
