Replacing my Schwinn Sidewinder Bottom Bracket

I need a new bottom bracket and crank for my Schwinn Sidewinder. Would it be possible to upgrade the bottom bracket as well as to a single sprocket and new crank arms? If so what would I need to use?

Depends. I think Sidewinders may have been around back when Schwinn's were really Schwinn's. So the type of BB shell it has will probably have changed through the years.

Can you see any numbers or markings on the current BB? If not the year and what crank it has in it might help someone figure it out. A bike shop will do this for you cheaper than you expect probably.

Changing BB's can be a learning experience and will cost you some tuition money if you choose poorly your replacement.

The first Sidewinders used a one piece crank.

I believe it's a cup and cone bottom bracket similar to this Amazon product Sunlite Bottom Bracket Cup Set for 3-Piece Cranksets, 68/73mm . I'm hoping that I can replace it with something like this product on Amazon: ZXZHL Bottom Bracket Square BB Bike Set -VP-BC73 English 68 x 118mm .

I believe the year of the bike is 2011

Model: S4968TGB
XDS0101JJ

Thanks for your help on this!
