Hadn't ridden since last Sunday - 9 miles this evening. Dry, just a little cold. Best yet - not completely dark at 6pm when I finished! Spring will be here soon!
Pretty large raccoon crossed the road - sucessfully! - in front of me
Haven't been riding much but because of the lack of snow/ice, I've ridden over 100 miles in January, which is pretty unusual for me.

25 miles at the MUP today. Great weather but there were some pretty good winds on the front half of the loop. Lots of nice scenery on skates and runners.

Nice 20 mile ride on a sunny 30f day with a strong 20 mph west wind. The 12 miles of streets were about 80% dry, but a few miles of slushy or snowy travel was mixed in. The 8 miles of MUP were 80% snow covered. Part of this was very lumpy from foot travel that had frozen.
The Schwalbe Marathon Cross were very good, even on lumpy ice.

~24 miles in nice cool air and sunshine*, although a moderate N/NE breeze. A friend was along on his Barcchetta Strada as well. To satisfy 'pics or it didn't happen', here I am on an overpass atop I-49, wondering exactly when my friend was going to shoot...
* It was about 50F when we left, but the wind chill was cooler than that. I could have lived without the arm/leg warmers by the time we got back, but what can I say... I'm a wimp.

50 miles on the tandem. Cool at the start, 40 or so, mid-60's when we finished at noon. Bright California sunshine!

18 miles. Sunny, breezy, 36F. Thanks to the favorable breeze and a slight incline, was able to cruise along for a mile or so at 30mph.

Beautiful spring-like day in new York ... a great chance to get outdoors in the fresh air, set up the work stand, and clean and lube 4 of the family MTB bikes. That should mitigate some of winter's harsh effects on their drivetrains, rims and other moving parts.
Test rode 3 of the four. Felt good to be back on a bike. Though my saddle felt like an ass-hatchet.
They still need a "real good clean" but at least they are mostly rideable. The shifting on mine still seems to slip under pressure, might need to pump some air in to the rear shock, think I've lost pressure and got too much flex. (Or it could be that 20 lbs I put on while my neck was herniated. )

My brother was in town for a work event, so I took him around all of the usual DC monuments and buildings. What a beautiful day! 50s, and sunny, and lots of beautiful people out speaking many, many different languages
Topped it off with a cruise up the Capital Crescent Trail, and then back through Rock Creek Park, for about 36-miles of riding. Sweetness!

10 mile round trip with a stop at the YMCA to work some of the non-leg muscles. Plus the legs.

Short 11 mile ride prior to a dash to the airport. Jersey and shorts only; didn't even need a base layer!

62 miles on Saturday, and 37 miles on Sunday. Nice weekend. Yesterday was my first ride of 2012 where I did not have to wear a jacket and arm and knee warmers.

Got a late start riding, after getting back from the doctor's office. Sunny and in the high 70's but very windy at this end of the county. Got in a good 15 mile workout before it started to turn dark.

I went out early and got the first ride on the new bike! Easy out and back, north-south with favorable winds on the return leg. The bike is super and so smooth. I am in love with that bicycle.

Got in 75+ miles in today after a visit to the doctors to get blood drawn. It was a great day, only had headwinds going north so not to bad.

35 great miles! Very windy, but crosswinds. Clouds came in and the temperature dropped (or felt like it).

Did 27 miles trying out a Cobb saddle with strong headwinds. Uneventful until I decided to go down by the water to take a break and look at some boats. Up on the sidewalk looking out I missed seeing a cutout for a drain in the sidewalk with about a 10 inch drop. Before I knew it I was down and picking myself up knowing I banged my right cheek and a few finger cuts. Rode the last 12 miles home and saw a scuff mark on the front of my Giro helmet and then saw the rather large crack all the way through. Apparently I hit my helmet first and then my cheek. Helmet is toast but saved me a skull fracture. Well i was looking at the new Giro Aeon and just ordered but not exactly the reason why I wanted it.
